Honestly I'm glad that MT Gox froze today; reason being I've been out of the Bitcoin loop since the MT Gox back in the day. I got back into it a few weeks ago when they were trading at $50 each and I've made some money fortunately (I've been very careful in my trades). Today however with the big crash and the frozen trades on MT.Gox I began looking around for other exchanges and came across Bitfloor here on the forum. I just would like to say it's a breath of fresh air to see an exchange that feels as secure as MT.Gox but 100x more functional and trader friendly. Anyone else get this feeling from Bitfloor? Discuss.

I use Bitfloor because it's the easiest exchange for me to move dollars into, so I buy bitcoins there and immediately withdraw them to cold storage.

I wonder why a CapitalOne360 P2P deposit (formerly ING P2P) would take 3-4 business days to be credited to my bitfloor account (according to bitfloor instructions), when the transfer is virtually instantly? What is bitfloor doing with my funds during that time?

Ive had good experiences with bitfloor, and the fact they let you make cash deposits and dont freeze your account and demand ID shows that they have some honest people working there.

afaik you need to upload your photo ID to withdraw dollars on bitfloor. 

I don't know, probably waiting to make sure it doesn't get reversed? In any case I use cash deposits at BoA.

Bitfloor is great, had nothing but good experiences with them.   That's probably because I wasn't holding coins there in Sep '12 when they got hacked, though.  There's a lot of people angry who still haven't gotten their bitcoins back from that incident.  Personally, I can't wait until the new Tradehill opens up to regular investors.

I also can't get to the website on my browser. Error 118 connection timeout.

I used to do this... as you can usually get a way better price than 'last' if you just use bitinstant.  However they lost Wells Fargo deposits so that kinda puts them out for me.

As a side note: Any exchange or service with reasonable fees that opens up deposits at a US Bank will probably have all of my future fiat business.

Both have been down for me, I prefer bitfloor these days though.

CampBX is up.

Mtgox is garbage.

From what I can tell CampBX has been up the entire time. There were one or 2 slow moments though, so I imagine if they had much more volume they'd have the same exact issues. Knock, knock, CampBX, this is the time for you to learn to add bandwidth before you become "too successful" like some other exchanges.

Now CampBX is down, just as I was trusting them...

They are not down

I was getting an error page for 10 minutes or so.  Now they seem to be back.

Switched over to bitfloor today. Made a cash transfer and it took less than 10 minutes to clear my account for trading.

I have been checking over the last 4 hours and have never seen them down. But, as you said, they are up.

I strongly prefer bitfloor at the moment

CampBX is still up, but there's practically no volume on there.

I use bitfloor (the BoA cash deposits are handy during times of wild swings when one needs to get USD there FAST)

One thing that concerns me: Since the initial blog post announcing that 1.7% of lost funds (from the '12 hack) had been returned to investors - there hasn't been a word about that. Does Shtylman hope everyone just forgets about it? It would reassure me to see another 5% or so returned pretty soon. If I don't see that I'm going to have to find another exchange because I don't feel comfortable putting USD and BTC in an exchange that does not honor investors who lost money due to lax security (at the time he had a "cold" wallet on a server that was connected to the internet and was exploited, and it hada large portion of client funds.)

Since then they've got their act together but I really need to see more paybacks to those folks. A friend of mine lost around $1000 USD and I'm sure there are people who lost more than that.

This past week, they were down from time to time but nowhere near as much as Gox.
