It is not going to down. It will be stable at 900$ around and right now it will hit 1200$ to 1500$ at the end of January I guess. However, Their will be a drop but not a huge one the price will drop down to 900$ and will stable and that is just an guess we have to wait and see what happens.

But everytime there is a period of people posting everywhere "we're going to the moon" it stopped the rie shortly after! In fact I'll be more than happy with a steady price going slowly up. It's already far enough! And sudden rises give idea to people, it's always a bit hard to stabilize a market so I hope your moon train is a slow one, much less risky even if also a bit less fun.

There is a lot of support at the levels we just passed and it appears support is building. I think we might see a flash crash, but nothing prolonged.
I think we are just starting still. We have some volatility going up for a few months at least imo.

Its very plausible to have a correction (smaller or bigger) prices increased too much in few days, but seems that no one wants to be out if it breaks up the maximum of 2013.

maybe its not big drop, because we see that if the price is reach the high price, then the price will be down for a moment before its back to higher again. its always like this and its because of the movements at the market and people want to make sell and buy bitcoin so i think its still normal for this. but to get huge drop, i am not sure the price is going to deep for the price.

i agree with others about the price of Bitcoin. At the end of the month it's going to go up to $1500 a coin. I think $900 is the new stable price for Bitcoin. So if the price drops at least it will only go to $900.

Price floor right now is at around $1,000 which means that the biggest drop that could happen in a short period would be around 10% which isn't really that much. The ceiling however is really high, something like $1,400 if i remember correctly.

Also market cap of bitcoin is approaching $20 billion at a steady pace.

Ha ha... My jaw dropped and touched the floor long ago. There is a fear at the bottom of my heart, about whether I should book profits before the next correction happens. But I have managed to hold on until now.

There will be really a drop coming and it's expected everytime bitcoin's price increasing. What shall we do in the time like this is to take closely with the price watch to avoid being late nor regret. And besides, I can't see the drop as a huge one with the current situation of bitcoin today. Even with $100-$200 price decrease is not hurtful since it's still around $1,000 as a correction price.

Also remember that situation back when bitcoin first reached it's ATH is really different for what is bitcoin today.

The old ATH of $1250 is a pretty huge psychological barrier to overcome. 

 If bitcoin reached 1300 this week  then its my turn  to sell some of my save btc. Will be using it for my birthday.. and the rest btc will be sleeping for 10 years and above.  Need patence if you want big returns in the future.

Correction was imminent for quite a while, so in that regard, it's not coming as a surprise for me. I welcome this drop as it made me a good profit in such a short time. I personally hope that this volatility will remain active for the coming days. The more volatility, the better. For China it's important to maintain the 7000CNY barrier in the coming days. As long as that happens, then I am fairly confident that the price will go up again after a short break. The market needs this time out. Nothing goes only up in value without experiencing these level of corrections.

Every single time there is a little move, a post like this goes up. My response is always the same: look at a historical chart. Realize this is completely pedestrian in Bitcoin. If the price fell below $500 it should warrant the raise of an eyebrow, below $300 maybe you should look into the cause.

I've noticed it usually drops a lot faster than it rises. It now dropped $150 in an hour, while it took 4 days to go up by that amount.
I can only conclude panic sales on the way down are much stronger than people trying to jump the train on the way up.

A correction is expected with such a huge increase so quickly. Look at it as a good time to buy more Bitcoins.

Yeah bubble is definitely over now, but a drop to 300-500 seems a little too much at this point. I am expecting a crash to around 800s at most and if we are lucky the crash might not go below 900.

Price has dropped but I wouldn't call this big crash. It's the correction which is normal and expected in situation like this. Bitcoin was constantly climbing up very fast so this drop it's some kind of safety trigger, let's call it so, but I do think it will go bellow 800$ and after a while will start to pump again.

The bitcoin might be overbought and the selling pressure is high and gave way to a drop. Hope the big dump will not follow.

I agree with OP but I can't determine the limit of  'huge'.I believe that a major correction is coming. Does anyone believes no dreams that rally should continue forever? Is that possible for markets?  Remember that China is not the only country in the world. Yesterday bitcoin price at Chinese Bter and OkCoin was $1126 and now is $954 and Coinbase , Bitstamp yesterday was 1082 and now is $934 and continues to go dip. How big is the correction?

Just noticed the drop all the sudden from $1076 just 3 hours ago and just checked to see it at $976.

What all the sudden happened? This is just a a shock from what was being herald as a stellar week for bitcoin. And now the bottom just falls out.

Price went down yes and now recovering is coming price will go over 1000 again in day or two.
Something big is coming this month and seem like card are set in motion for 20 January (megaupload 2.0 and Trump official crowning)

Well maybe people's jaw will drop since it will go to the moon again, but there is a possibility that instead of jaw dropping, a price drop will happen. If this dump continue in the coming week and so on, I think it will stabilize to a price below 700$ so better sell it now if you want to but if you don't want just hold it there's also a possibility that instead of a price drop, your prediction will happen OP.

It looks like a big drop, bitcoin loosed 200 dollars in less than 24 hours. But in my opinion isn't a bitcoin crash we are at the same price level than one week ago. We need to wait and see what happens on next days.

It's just major players taking profits. I was waiting for this to happen since the price has gone over the $900 mark. It finally happened today.

I just hope this was the correction a lot people were waiting for. If that's the case, then I am fairly sure that we won't go down further (for now).

That said, even with this serious step back the price is still sitting at +$950 prices. I find that quite an impressive achievement. All with all, we're doing great!

I believe bitcoin was moving for making $1300 and $1400 price levels but unfortunately it got pulled down. I read Chinese yuan just got 1% value appreciation but I guess that will not sustain and Chinese investors will come back to pumb bitcoins again.

Some people just don't understand irony. Pictures says more then thousands word's, but some don't see it. Even I agree that many jaws will drop, I don't think bitcoin is ready for moon, this is just first mile and many more are waiting.
Price already drop a bit below 1000, let's first hold this for a while before we start to talk about 2000 or more.

But then it gained back about half of that back and still holding but not going past $1000 again.
I think it made it's own mind to stay below that price wall until something triggers it to surge again.

I really don't know where you took such information. You could post some link for the recourse where you found about this "Huge drop" indeed. But like that your words are just words. Sorry. I don't believe that.

I am not convinced that uptrend is now over. As far as I am aware this today's regress was caused by someone who dumped bazillion of BTC on Huobi.
Smaller traders wasted whole day trying to bought out his whole dump. This wasn't actually that bad, because now we might see fresh blood joining the price race.

I do not think that it will be a huge drop but maybe a drop from around the 200 dollar at its max but not lower than that!

Is the crash over ? It seems like a fast crash. Usually it takes few days before shooting up again. I guess bitcoin couldn't wait to go to the moon.... next few months might be interesting.

Its expected and its normal as well. If theres a huge pump happened then theres a crush coming. Thats how the price movements work everytime there is rise.

Maybe just a temporary drop but not huge to get rid of the selling pressure and then climb back again. Some profit-taking took place and sort of so called panic selling according to some reports but the bitcoin managed to recover.

if there is a huge drop in the market then i am sure there will be a huge increase for the price and we need to be patience before the price is up. i think its normal because the market is depend on the transaction that peoples do and i am sure the situation will be back and we can reach the higher price than befoe.

Huge drop in price is over, by the weeks to come the price might fluctuate but such a steep decrease similar to that falling from $1166 to value around $900 in a very short span of about two hours time won't happen again. We can expect a sustained growth.

Bull trap or not, it was a fantastic opportunity to cash out coins bought well below the $400 levels. I don't think the price will go much lower than $700 at worst, but I am ready to do some buying back if it does happen to become reality. Other than that, it was a well expected dump since a serious correction was imminent for quite some time. It only took longer than expected, with as result that smart people were given the opportunity to cash out at even higher levels.

Has this drop got any connections with the DDoS attack on BTC-e, which occurred a few hours ago? I wouldn't be surprised if it has. BTC-e is one of the biggest exchanges, in terms of BTC volume.

BTW.... this may be the last opportunity to purchase BTC at three digits. Hurry!!!!

Nah, can't see a simple DDoS attack have that much impact on the price. Mainly because of the fact that it isn't the first time that this exchange is subject to DDoS attacks.

I think what's driving the price down is the fact that it was just a pump by the big boys in control of the Chinese exchanges.

If that's really the case, then as quick as they can lift the price to a high point, that quick can they reverse it as well. These select group of traders rule this market with iron fist.

It has dropped all the way back to $876 again and it seems we have not made any progress from what we have lost. I think it is the hacks that have happened on some big exchanges including btc-e and I think coinbase had some sort of thing happen there all at once is the cause of all this now.
The other exchanges are just not able to keep up with this and are still showing $975 for selling. :-\

The photos are nice but hey, how can you know that& Halving is not even this year, the price is now quite nice, although it's not $1k anymore. According to statistics of the year 2014 when we had such a situation you are right, of course. In a week the price would be around $750. Maybe that's true. We all hope this time it is different despite the fact the price dropped already.

Well, the drop has started to reveal itself. the current price of bitcoin survive at a price of $ 900, and several times has reached the price of $ 890. I guess this is normal when the price increases that occurred a few days. many people are taking advantage of it by selling most of their bitcoin. in addition, there may be some things that happen, and make bitcoin prices to be down.

The pattern is very similar to the one from December 2013. Bitcoin reached a peak of $1,216 in Mt Gox, before falling below $800 per coin. But the decline in 2013 happened over a course of one week. But this time, it was very fast.

I'm not entirely sure this qualifies as a 'HUGE' drop. Nothing unexpected, just normal market correction. I believe it will stabilize around the $800-$900 range.

The only bearish news, and quite bearish, was the statement from the Chinese government, but it seems like another "nothing" from them.
Regardless, BTC was getting ahead of itself, but I think a huge move is coming (up) in the next few months to sometime this year. (watching for a Cup and Handle, rather the handle to form on weekly.)

So it has happened and China is in panic mode right now.

I went to bed when it was $902 now when I wake it is at $802
so a $100 drop is alarming for me to see.

I don't know about the rest of you but I am worrying about the amount of bitcoin that I have right now.

Anyway, no way to know where is the bottom. Kwuduck of course always aims 300 dollars lower. If we hit 500, he will say 200 is the bottom, if we hit 200, he will say 100...

The thing is, this may have been the bottom before we rise again.

Where or how to see that China exchanges are dump bitcoin price? I mean, mostly sell transaction come from China?

Same was a week ago just that they have $1200+ price that was $100 higher then in Europe and USA.

Go preparing your pockets to start the game once again. Buy massively at $300, push the price to $1,200 and sell massively to continue the game again and again. Unfortunately in this ridiculous game has become what was previously seen as the future of the money.  :(

I doubt we will go that low again.
We might not have found the bottom yet but imo the worst case would be something between 500-600 USD.
2013 was highly influenced and probably manipulated by the biggest exchange during that time, which went bankrupt pretty quick after that.
We are much more distributed now with over 150 exchanges world wide and a growing user base + much more interest and attention than ever before.

And even if we should go lower as I expect, I can guarantee you that there will be many brave and smart people who will buy those cheap coins in assumption to get highly rewarded sometime later.

I think a huge drop stops. I am sure, the current price is the normal price and the real price of bitcoin. Well, maybe we start the year with a high price, but it can be said that this year has just begun. I think this is a good start, even though the price of bitcoin down so great.

My position on this issue is that if someone announces something like that have to quote the reasons to support it. If don't then is only a rumor. I really don't find any good reason price goes down except people who sell under pressure into a panic climate. If we go back we see a huge drop of the price, more than 50% in 2013, after announcement of BTCC that stops to accept deposits of Yuan and again after the shutdown of Mt. Gox. Therefore, if there are people who can affect the psychology of people they can manipulate the price

Don't expect that much though, $900 above is fine but $1000 will be even better but i don't sure the price correcting might drive the price return to $1000 because most of price correction not increasing that much , as for now the rate is $800, i'm pretty sure the $900 will be realistic point.

I too believe that huge drop is over. This could be the years big drop in price, and by the later days the price might get stabilized. Now too the price is so stable and increasing with small fluctuations. This time the variation is found very large comparatively. I believe the price will get us good profit.
