Title: Adding a 480 to a 280x rig?
Post by: MTJ151 on January 07, 2017, 02:38:10 PM
Hi,

One of my rigs currently has two 280x's and a 390x. It runs using ubuntu 14.04 and drivers provided by AMD.

I need to replace one of the 280x's (fans failing) and I am considering the 480.

I am confused about which operating system I would use for the mix of GPU's (1x480, 1x390x & 1x280x) as it appears AMD only provide 480 drivers for 16.04. 280x drivers (and I think 390x drivers) are not available for 16.04.

Does anyone know if the 480 would run fine with the current AMD driver I am using for the 390x & 280x on 14.04?

If not, what options do I have to get the system working?

Thanks In advance!!

Friend uses the 16.04 driver will work.
Here I have 5x 280x and 1x 470 works the normal 6 cards

So the AMDGPU-PRO driver (http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Radeon-GPU-PRO-Linux-Beta-Driver%E2%80%93Release-Notes.aspx) will work with the 280x's for mining on 16.04?
