Title: How can you be optimistic short term at this point?
Post by: bootlace on April 12, 2013, 03:55:37 AM
-Had a chance to break out of the price before freezeout, clearly no euphoria this time to send price higher
-Clear bull trap was playing out, and we were heading lower
-Mtgox has failed over and over again and probably making the average Joe say "This shit aint worth it" right about now
-Mad instability, which bigger investors will want to stay clear of even if it means having to pay higher prices later
-Mainstream media probably going to town with the 'bubble bursting' + 'hacks' experienced by Gox
-Weekend coming up and hence no new money coming in

There's not ONE good short term news that I can see right now, any bulls care to fill me in?

Disclaimer: Have 0 position in BTC at the moment.

I suggest obtaining BTC for their purchasing power, not their exchange rate into USD.

At the end of this, Bitcoin will be worth more than it was in the summer of 2011. Now that was a crash.

mtgox says its a DoS. not their fault.

There is little anyone can to do about that.

It's always an attack. That's a very convenient excuse.

People are trying to ruin the market..

And it'll work. I'm selling ASAP if I bought any by accident once gox comes back online.

Then I'll buy back when we hit the single digits

virwox.com and other exchanges are still running smooth.  why not learn to use those?

Seems like there aren't ANY bulls right now on the speculation subforums, even Smoothie is MIA. That's probably a good indicator as any that shit is about to get alot worse before it gets any better.

Not all. Bitfloor is down and BTC-e is intermittent.

short term bulls most likely have sufficient USD holdings right now and are looking to profit from the volatile upswings while waiting for the bottom to find itself?

Is this the success lag? The panic sell lag? The DDoS lag? Or, the market manipulator lag?

The DDoS lag? Same lag, different excuse.

I'm so sorry I'm late for our anniversary dinner, honey. I was DDoSed on the way over here.

I will start incorporating the DDoS excuse into everyday situations. If it's good for Gox....it's good for me.

If you're in it for the short term you're doing it wrong

They all deserve to stay with fiat money.

coins going for ~$97 on virwox.  sorry you guys don't know how to utilize multiple exchanges... you're only hurting yourselves.

like 2011... like 2013... :p
I purchased a handful of bitcoins at 25-40$ on virwox... then sold again at 97... then purchased more around 60... and... hey its an exchange!

Ten seconds after reading the OP, I can't even recall the supposed list of reasons to be pessimistic.

Bitcoin works perfectly fine. I quit using gox a while ago.  Most of my savings are in btc. I've been cashing out a little bit at predecided price points. Now I'm buying back at a profit. I can pay for more and more services and goods with btc. I can continue to use it to move money across borders, quickly and easily. There are even some arbitrage opportunities if I bother to watch and wait. Finally, the big pictute - Bitcoin is doing great, with some growing pains:

BTC is doing fine; the exchanges have some growing pains. Wait until Wall Street wants a piece of the action.....  8)

I suggest obtaining BTC for their purchasing power, not their exchange rate into USD.

This will only work once people start selling for BTC, and not for BTC based on how much FIAT they will get for their BTC. If you look at all BTC sales everybody adjusts BTC for inflation/deflation; so if you are a buyer with FIAT and want to buy BTC for their purchasing power, doesnt it make sense to wait until it levels out?
