Title: What is a quality post?
Post by: missdirected on January 07, 2017, 08:26:12 PM
Hello!
I'm looking for help here, please notice no spam intended.

I wanna know what a quality post is? I notice a lot of people writing big posts, full of useful info, but they seem really experienced.
So I would like to know how do you write a good, quality post when you are new to btc and still dont have much knowledge?

Thanks a lot!

The answer is simple: You don't. People need to stop attempting to engage into discussions in which their knowledge is either nonexistent or severely limited. You should be spending most of your time reading/learning and not posting.

This should be enough to answer your question / this thread.

Agree, it can be clearly seen if someone pretending to help, but lacking basic knowledge about bitcoin. Moderators will react, matter of time.
First read a lot, learn learn learn, then post. Quality will come by itself.

I somewhat disagree with this. Yes, dont just answer anything when you have no idea what you are talking about, but what you can do instead is go and research the answer and write up your own version of it giving references. That will take some time and requires you to find good information, but it will improve your understanding of bitcoin greatly. This obviously does not work for a discussion, but often questions here are asked that could be answered with 5-10 minute research. Help the lazy and grow in the process.

Quality post stands for descriptive post which is specific about certain information. These posts maybe about your own experience, knowledge, understanding or logic. Which you can express in common language which can benefit to other forum uses which are new to such topic.

Forum is a place where experienced user share their own knowledge and experience or even discuss more in reward of Bitcoin by running signature campaign.

Hello friend! i just want to share to you what quality post is so as we start quality post is when you reply or quote to a topic that has came you must reply good English with no wrong grammar or you must give him 3 sentences to explain because the impact of the 3 sentences is a good quality so that you will the user will appreciate your reply or post and i was same as you but different once i applied to a campaign then i got rejected because of my poor quality post so i really didn't understand it because i don't know what is the meaning of quality post so i ask my friend then he explained to me that i post or reply a poor English and 1 sentence at the time so i change it to high quality now :D

I would rather focus on constructive posts, than quality posts, with correct grammar and spelling for instance. Some people have some difficulty with English, but they can still post interesting and informative posts on this forum. Let me take a simple example : A thread was started about the financial problems in Greece and how Bitcoin is used to help people in that country.

A person living in Greece, might respond to that thread and share their personal experience with the people on this forum. The poster speaks Greek and have difficulty with English, but the information posted adds value to the discussion. Would we rather not receive this information, because the English Grammar Nazi's wants perfect quality posts?

Try to add value and share your personal experience and ask questions. Try to read as much as possible about the topic, before you post, like Lauda has said, to prevent duplicate threads. < Most questions has already been answered before >

Just enjoy the experience. ^smile^

Constructive and quality post imo is similar. The only difference is that when someone says constructive, people think that to be constructive you have to post an essay like or a long post. Quality imo is about the thought you put in the post even if it's justs a sentence or even a couple of words.

No, you do not need a Wall of text to get your point across, and I think some people prefer to read less on a daily basis or they are just too lazy to read. I try to condense most of my posts in one paragraph to make it easy on the eye, but some explanations need more detailed and in depth discussion and then a wall of text is unavoidable.

Most people have a short attention span, so you have to accommodate for that too. < they get bored very quickly >

This is a forum so just share your thoughts. This is not a fight of who is genius or not. Just stay with the thread.
Some here are hardcore with their posts taking 10-20 sentences and that just talking BS without sense.
If you have some questions you can post it too. Just complete the question so it can be answered completely also.
 ;)

Actually a constructive or quality post is a one which at least do one of these three :  ( a ) Inform about something ( b ) Correct someone about anything or ( c ) contributes towards the community.

Post quality is determined based on the discussions in which you take part and how you reply to those discussions.
Only answer when you know, else do research as shorena said and you are fine.
Spamming here means taking no time and not reading and understanding the OP as well as discussion, and/or replying the same answer again and again which had been told many times. You are free to write in the way you want, but always be very confident that your reply is not kind of a copy-paste.

So i would be consider as doubtable questions or your view. So do not panic and pass your questions and clarify your doubt accordingly. You could find many videos in YouTube about bitcoin features and usages. Just learn it and pass the infos in relevant posts.

It's good question what is quality of post. This question appears from time to time in different signature campaigns because they want to pay only for constructive qualitative posts.
I think here there are several approaches. First - is when person is experienced and has opinion in topic which can be interesting for others. Such person can be like an expert.
But what to do if you are not expert yet? If you are rather new person on forum. Does it mean your posts are not constructive or bad quality?
It would be somehow not honest :)
I suppose good quality of post is when it's written with normal english grammar (can be with mistakes because for some of us (may be even for most of us) english is not native, but nevertheless text should be "readable" and "understandable".
Often managers of signatire campaigns also include as factor of quality - length of post.
So post should not be too short. It can not be "ah, yes, cool" or "haha". Surely there are situations when somehow such phrases can bring some sense or be important, but lets be honest... here it can not really be.

Like Lauda said, a quality post requires experience in things. If you have intelligence of basic computer science (for example), start in a place where you think your knowledge will be best useful. Maybe start in the beginners and help section here and the bitcoin discussion. While doing this, also educate yourself on more about Bitcoin. Then migrate this knowledge to other places of this forum.

(simply put, a quality post is a post that is merely useful, unique and/or aids the discussion).

Locking this thread as enough answers have been provided and it's already started turning into a place for signature spam.
