Title: EVER USED VIRWOX
Post by: TampaBayBucs on January 11, 2017, 04:33:58 PM
Hi I was curious whether or not anyone has had any positive experiences when it comes to purchasing Bitcoin from Virwox? If so what exactly are the do's & donts when it comes to this site. I've heard conflicting things, but I have read dozens of reviews about being scammed & losing $$. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I am currently unable to find a safe way to purchase btc & I've narrowed down to Virwox being the best option but not 100% confident. Thx

First transaction takes some time so don't panic.
They have high fees when converting PP > SLL > BTC so you need to be careful.
If you do small amounts, you may not be able to withdraw because the fees might take you below the minimum withdrawal amount. I'd suggest atleast $40 to be safe.
Other than that, they're safe. Though I'd advise against using them due to their fees. Use a card to buy from anywhere else (Coinbase, Circle, Blockchain).

I see, so you recommend Coinbase, Circle or Blockchain instead...Since when does Blockchain sell btc? I use a Blockchain wallet & was completely unaware of this...

First tiem tried to used them with their virtual cc. Sent money but money never appeared on their site. Tried to contact support never got any response. It wasn't large amount about 10-20$ but still I would recommend to stay away from them

I learned about buying BTC on Blockchain a few days ago myself.
I think this is only available for EU residents, though. There's a 'Buy Bitcoin' button in the dashboard.

Its definitely not recommended to buy from Coinbase , Circle If you care about your privacy otherwise just go head and do it. I have used virwox myself and never experienced any issues with them and from what I've seen on the forums in the last couple of years , I never seen a single scam accusation against them , at least nothing serious.

I used it a few years back when price of bitcoins was low had  now problems
but now with price high then I woud not use then them now as fee on top will make it not worth it unless you buying with cc then maybe use them as you don't have to go view hopes to use it. I would look elsewhere if you don't want to pay over the odds.

Good advice. Localbitcoin.com will always be the goto back up exchange in case someone gets a hard time converting from fiat to BTC. The fact that Tampabaybucs is asking about Virwox is telling that he hasnt tried Localbitcoin yet and maybe so do some of the other people here.

Yes, we have used several times and is a good service, specially trustable, never had a single problem.
The only concern is that commissions are too high, then everytime you do a buy/sell you are giving your money away, that's all.
Now we reverted to conbase where is easy to buy/sell BTC with same tools as Virwox

Well , on coinbase you should provide your ID and other personal info otherwise you can't use them. There is a possibility of locking your account If there is something suspicious and they also have some current issues with the IRS , I wouldn't use them under any circumstances.

Yes, you are right, in fact i'm assuming that you use the account without problems of providing ID's....in case you are looking to be anon, then Virwox could be a good place, and the higher price for fee is the price to pay for this anonymity...

I wouldn't say I had a positive experience but it wasn't negative per se. I bought some oh hey what are they called, second life lindons or something like that (SLL) with a credit card then something like 72 hours later switched over to bitcoins and was charged out the wazoo for it. It was over 10% I believe. It's better than trying to buy bitcoins on this forum I guess or even local bitcoins if you need to use a credit card and not cash.

It does work but fees re 2 high. I d use something more simple, Wirex for example.

There s no need to convert your funds 3 times until you get what you want.
