Title: No Preferences in 2.7.15
Post by: rbscebu on January 13, 2017, 06:00:02 AM
I recently upgraded my Electrum program to v 2.7.15 (Windows Standalone Executable). Ever since upgrading, I have not been able to access "Preferences".

I click Tools>Preferences and nothing happens. I click on the Preferences button (bottom right) and nothing happens.

Have we lost the use of preferences in 2.7.15?

Try deleting the config file located in the electrum appdata folder. Should be fixed in the next version.

It looks like Electrum version 2.7.17 is already released. I'm not sure if the patch longbob72 mentioned is already included in this version, but you should try downloading it and see if the issue persists as well. Otherwise delete the config file as previously mentioned should resolve it.

Thanks to longbob72, deleting the congfig file solved the preferences problem, however I then lostmy the PHP fiat display.

Thanks to kolloh, upgrading to 2.7.17 also fixed the preferences problem, but again still no PHP fiat display available. I guest I will just have to live with the no PHP fiat display until that is included again from Bitcoinaverage.

I don't think is a problem from the Bitcoinaverage as it's showing both in my 2.7.12 and in my 2.7.17 electrum wallets, in Windows and in Linux. You can always  opt for another bitcoin exchange rate provider like Kraken, they tend to work everytime.

Of course when you delete the config file then you have to reset those preferences.  I have been playing with this and I use onion exclusively.  With the config file deleted I always have to reset socks5, 9150, etc....   Its very easy and quick but I just thought I would drop a reminder in case someone "thinks" they are on onion and in fact they end up on clearnet.  Ooooops, know what I mean?
