Post by: Nathan047 on January 13, 2017, 05:06:23 PM
Title pretty much explains it all. There are a lot of services that list the exchange rate of bitcoin, and the usually vary by a few dollars, so is there one that is the most trusted?

Here in our country we have coins.ph it is the most safest way to exchange bitcoin into cash but the fee is slightly high but it is guarantee legit and you will don't have to waste your money. I will suggest that ask your country men if what is there using in terms of exchanging bitcoin into cash or dollars.

What the exchange rates means? pair? or the exchange site?

But I just understand if it the exchange site, correct me if I'm wrong.
Visit the crypto market capitalization and you will be seeing the trusted exchange site in the head of the page.

It depends on people mate. There is Haobtc, kraken, bitfinex, preev, etc.
I really don't care much about this exchanges because I am basing my rate on my own fiat amd the exchanger we have in my local is lower than any of the exchange rate I've mentions.
I've seen most people uses preev rate in their trades so I think that's where they prefer to base the btc price. In my case I have bitfinex rate on my android notif of btc price.

its depend on where you come from and where you want to do trading because i think from many of people which is doing trading, they have many option to go with each of market exchanges and they can do with one or two or three website. but so far, i still choose poloniex and bittrex to do trading.

actually it doesn't explain what you want exactly.
for example why do you want bitcoin exchange rate (i am assuming you mean live price)?
for just checking to know how much it is see preev.com or if you want a widget for your site see coindesk.com

if it is for trading, so you can buy or sell then subscribe to an exchange service's API and use it to get the live price every second. some of them offer REST and other types of API you can get the price at which bitcoin is being traded.

I trust Bitmex more so than other sites, although it is unlike most other bitcoin exchanges it is very useful if you are just looking to predict price movements as you can use a high leverage meaning you don't have to store all of your bitcoins within their site.

I wouldn't say that there are exchange rate sites that are more trusted than others but there definitely are a few that are more popular.
I personally use preev.com and I've noticed that lots of users on here use the preev rate when selling items. It's fairly accurate and does a good job :)

The market internasional I use https://www.quoine.com/ because there is feature for exchange currency to other different currency (local currency exchange to USD or other currency) and it is can be trusted.
For local market i use https://www.bitcoin.co.id also it can be trusted and never find the problem when used it, so actually depend on your country and i think there are markets of bitcoins can be trusted and you did'nt explaining about where do you come from.

What exchange rate? Most trusted exchange rate? Are you reffering to a site? Did you mean what is the most trusted exchange site? If thats what you mean. Actually theres a lot of exchangers that are really trusted. Bitstamp, bittrex, kraken, poloniex etc. Those are trusted trading flatform. I will also add localbitcoins.com as the most trusted exchange. Go and choose one. Happy trading.

yes that is absolutly right i also use preev.com  that really give an accurate price. although some exchange give a little high from the actual price like yobit offer 20 to 30 points above the actual price and therefore i use preev.com for knowing actual price of bitcoin.

Guess I wasn't specific enough. Yes, I was asking about the most trusted live exchange rate USD/BTC, not an exchange service. From the replies I can see there isn't one that is trusted the most, I guess I'll stick to Coindesk or Coinmarketcap. Thanks everyone.

what is your definition of trusted?

the Coindesk takes the price from exchanges (read the site on how they do it) and report an average on their charts and the widget on top. not sure how frequently it updates the price.

Coinmarketcap also takes the price from exchanges, and then reports an average on from page and lists them when you click on bitcoin. and it updates it every 5 minutes!

other services such as preev, bitcoinwisdon, bitcoincharts, .... are taking the price from exchanges and reporting it live or updating every second to every five minutes!

live rate (price) of BTC/USD is what people are currently trading it for on exchanges that is why people suggest exchange services. you don't need to use them, you can open and look at the price.

For me the other one's best is bittrex, and c-cex these exchange has been established for a years, which means they established a community traders also in their exchange sites and both are good in track record history.

i am using bitcoin.co.id to do trading btc with fiat and the other services i used is bittrex. the exchange rate i think its followed by dollar and if dollar is up or down, then the exchanges will be update too. sometimes i use localbitcoin to sell or buy bitcoin but it is not much as i use bitcoin.co.id to trading.

I mostly rely on preev.com to check bitcoin price, but as i am using blockchain.info wallet their price is at which i have to do transactions. There is only slight difference in price between different price ticker which i don't care much.  ;D

Well, prior to my introduction to bitcoins I knew about bitrex and my colleagues who got me in the known also seems to be cool with it and I believe they are trustworthy because they've been around for a long time without any major scandal so I will recommend.

Must be  preev.com, people who are buying bitcoin usually look at the rate of  preev.com  for its value. I think the rest of the exchange site's rate are also base on  preev's price. Yobit has its own, thier price is much expensive as you can see. Bittrex price is lesser and so does the rest like kraken.

If you intend to buy, you can negotiate base on the price of preev.

So you are pointing with the "bitcoin exchange rate" and not with the "exchange service" like buying, selling, storing etc isn't it?

Obviously exchanges have different rates because that is business. The exchanges you are using primarily is the one you must to refer as a price basis since that is the only exchange you will use or available when converting or withdrawing your bitcoin. Even you use some exchanges with high exchange rate, coins will still landed on the exchange that is available in your country.

Is this really a big deal since like you said it's only vary in a few dollars on different exchanges? You will not use them all but rather the exchange you are dealing with traders and other services.

Here is an example, in preev the current btc price is $869. I trusted preev so i want that to the basis of my future monitoring. I use coins.ph services to deal with some of the matter but their exchange rate is minus or around $10 at the current price. Even I trust in preev, the fees will be on coins.ph will the one I will used as a basis on how much will I gained from withdrawing my money.

For me the most trusted bitcoin exchange was Bittrex and Poloniex, these two are very legit for me, and it never give any issues problem before to their traders in the platform. The charge for every transaction was not that hurt much to their traders in there.
