Title: Why do everybody hate MtGox?
Post by: wingding on April 13, 2013, 09:02:47 PM
As far as I can see MtGox has made a succes by having such a large part of the exchange market. MtGox are not to blame for that? If you hate them so much, why do you not use another exchange? I got fast support, withdrawals etc. Is there something I have missed here or are you all just a bunch of jealous kids?

Yes.  We're all just a bunch of jealous kids.

::)

There's been several threads about this; look around and you'll find plenty of reasons.

People are more concerned with being day traders than exchanging their old currency for a new one.

Reminds me of a quote from Bjarne Stroustrup:

"The major cause of complaints is C++ undoubted success. As someone remarked: There are only two kinds of programming languages: those people always bitch about and those nobody uses."

That's quite nonsense. The problems with MtGox are that they have threatened Bitcoin quite factually twice already. When they're not busy threatening outright extinction they're on a program of constant lies and a slow leeching of the community. In general MtGox has been a net negative for Bitcoin, in the sense that if they never existed we'd have been better off today. This is not even true of all scams, so in a sense they're worse than a scam.
