Title: Sapphire RX 470 cards modifications. What is the difference
Post by: cleverserge on January 23, 2017, 10:46:15 PM
Hello, All
There are 3 modifications of Sapphire RX 470 4G cards on my market

11256-06-20G (GPU 1216 MHz, Memory 7000 MHz)
11256-17-20G (GPU 1236 MHz, Memory 7000 MHz)
11256-01-20G (GPU 1260 MHz, Memory 7000 MHz)

Is there any difference between them according to mining and modifying the rom? I have a very good offer for the first one (11256-06-20G) but I never used it for mining.
Is MSI RX 470 4G better/worse/the same? I'm choosing between these 2 cards (MSI and Sapphire 1216MHz) for my new rig.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

It is not all RX470/4G:

there is also Sapphire Nitro 11256-20 (1216/7000MHz)
and reference model 11256-00-20G (1216MHz/7000MHz)

Oh!  ???
Do all NITRO cards give 27-28 Mhs with low power consumtion after bios mod? Are there any secrets?  :)

RX 470 NITRO cards should give slightly higher hashrate due to better cooling but nothing too important if price difference is between nitro and reference is too high in your country

I'm choosing betweeen MSI RX 470 GAMING 4G and Sapphire Nitro RX 470 4G 1216 MHz
So it does not matter Sapphire Nitro RX 470 4G 1216MHz, 1236MHz or 1260MHz? They are all ok?

my sapph nitro+ rx470 after modding timings in bios on hynix ram give 28.5 mh ETH, on elpida ram give 28 mhs ETH (1250/2000, 170 watt from wall).
But nitro + have a problem: flowing thermal pads. Once a week I clean them

how much time has passed since the date of purchase? At my cards have a problem after 2 months mining ETH. (temperature GPU 60 C)

Some have hynix memory, 8gb some have samsung memory, some have elpida memory.  I guess they change up things a bit depending on input costs and what is available.  For example early nitro's had hynix, and the latest one I got had elpida.  But they are all good anyways, the hashrate shouldn't change that much.  just your memory timings may change if you have elpida.

We cant see your images :(  Well your nitro has either samsung, elpida or hynix memory.  Didnt see any micron ones.  anyways, its really easy to modify timings with Polaris Bios Editor and atiwinflash.  For elpida memory its a bit different, but there are roms out there that are already done.  Dont forget to backup the original :)  Go to my website, there are links to various roms that you can use.  http://www.cryptominingtalk.com/flashing-bios/   May I add after you change your timings, set the memory to 2000 for example, and reboot your rig.  then you should see a hashrate difference.  Seems like there are a lot of people that want custom roms, even though its pretty easy to do it yourself.  I could do it for you, but i'd have to charge you lol
