i have seen people speaking about it or simple links in Their signatures. Can anyone take a second to explain in layman's terms what the point of it is.

What I know is keybase basically for presenting a someone identity (online activity), such as in this forum, when people here pseudonym, just use their username without show their face, speak face to face, ect. Keybase also for presenting your statement continuously, means for every your statement made, it's related (cmiiw).

just another one of those scams based on a false service that is not needed and produces no real output of service, people think they feel safer, but it is controlled by the wrong group of people and therefore there is no real safety

Keybase is a directory of people and public keys. This is instrument which is use by signature campaign managers or staffs here to determine who is the user through its public key. It is use also to determine alt accounts of account farmers here. Thats my understanding on keybase. Correct me guys if im wrong.

It's not an instrument.A web app developed to make staking pubic keys easy in order to preserve online identities and so on.It is not used for determine alt accounts here lol.There are cases when a key signed by an address was used my multiple people which indeed prove they're alts,but very few cases like that.The primary objective of the app is to secure your online identity from imposters.If if doubt weather you're talking to the real person behind the account,you can use keybase as a reference to verify their signed message.

Not only here,any service which has loopholes will get abused for evil plans.Keybase doesn't play a big role if you look at it.They are only bothered about the app and it's functions without giving much thought of their user base.Its open source ,if you feel there is need for better security,please pull request.

no, not a problem with the service itself or any method or module within in.

just saying that the results are used by those here that think it is their responsibility to judge the forum and its members, you know the guys.  it is like keybase printed a nice, clean list of all the jewish people in the world for a good purpose, and then here comes hitler says thanks.  this forum is getting worse and worse everyday with that group of elitists
