Is this for real? Anyone still play this dota? I think many already move out from that warcraft and start to play steam and you asking for PvP on this game? Does not really attractive though. May be you should think about changing your game. And btw how are you going to play by using btc? You are going to escrow this?

Are you some kind of hardcore fanatic of the original DotA? I played this game for thousands of hours years ago, but I don't think there is still niche for DotA1 tournaments.
I mean you will probably find some people willing to play but why limit yourself with original, when DOTA2 is constantly topping steam charts as the most popular game ever released?

See for yourself: http://steamcharts.com/ (http://steamcharts.com/)

I think they find great gameplays on warcraft. lmao. for real? there is a player who plays warcraft dota ? warcraft players moved to Dta 2 now. Warcraft dota is a dead game right now. No wonder icefrog leave it. Dota 2 is the best game so far on steam, it is the most played game in steam. I will recommend them that warcraft now is outdated and transfer the tourna to dota 2 so that many players will participate. I know a lot of bitcoiners here are dota 2 players. So i think its a great marketing here if you choose dota 2 as your tourna game not warcraft dota. So Good Luck on that warcraft thingy.

A few problems I see here.

1. How will you connect every player that will register?
2. How do you prevent players from cheating? The game has been around for quite a long time and it has been hacked and cheated long before dota even came out.
3. Did you know there are hacks that can enable people from revealing the whole map and removing fog of war? There are even cheats that can land every skill shot and avoid every skill shot too.

This would really be complicated I guess unless if its well organized.Old dota 2 does really have problems regarding on maphacks or goldhacks and mots people now are playing dota 2 I agree on what other members said here and seeing on the interest of players I think old dota has lesser compared to the new one.

Seems that this tournament has flaws and needs to modify its rules. Why not upgrade and just go for DotA 2? I guess it's better than old days.

There are a lot of things that you need to consider and there's no certain and distinct rules for your game.

I think you need to modify your rules if you want to make this happen.

I played this game a lot and until now I just see other players, who used maphack, can not remove fog of war , land skill shot or avoid skill shot.

Regardless of whatever hack there is, the point is how does the organizers prevent these problems? There would be cheaters for sure, especially when we are talking about money. Having an advantage over the others is not gambling already. Another concern is how do we know who's good at the game and who sucks so bad that it's a sure lose?

Hi guys,

Good to see you here.

There is a solution for any problem.

1. The players will connect in a private chatroom - http://bitcoindota.com/

2. The games will be hosted by lagabuse GHOST++ , Tunngle

3. AntimaphackShield.exe will be required

4. There will be a newbie league $10 ticket and a pro league $100 ticket and the winner team wins and shares the pool's stake of the total amount of Bitcoins (Total/5 for each player). Bblockchain.info or other online 'Secure' wallet will be used.

5. Newbie league will consist of random teams and pro league will consist of real teams if there are any.

6. A test game is planned for this Saturday - 25 February around 20:00 GMT - so GET READY TO PLAY!

7. I would participate as OBSERVER arbiter

Let me know if there is something else?

Did you guys register already?

http://bitcoindota.com/

==> SHARE THIS TO GET MORE PLAYERS AND BITCOINS (Hopefully)!

This is quite odd, if you're a newbie other players might drag you down. And it's too risky this thing might be a scam. Yeah I think it's just a scam.

I don't know the real reason why the OP is still trying to host such an old game as tournament, but the truth is this game have a relatively small pool of players that are still playing nowadays, if OP is serious about hosting gaming tournaments for bitcoins, Dota 2 or Hearthstone and other new games would be a better choice, as the players base is huge, there is higher chance to get players to fill up all the spots faster, Just my suggestion.

And there is a lot of maphacker in Dota 1, and Blizzard doesn't really care about this game anymore since most of the players have moved to new games alike World of warcraft or Starcraft 2.

we can not prevent players use maphack, but have 1 ways we can use , that is ask every player take a screen shot when we start game and send for referee , if they use maphack tool, their mini map will light up

You should said this earlier in your post I really thought you are only gathering players so you can have someone to play with It is really late that I have realized that you need to won in order to accumulated some bitcoin, well I would really wish it is DOTA 2 instead of the old one, but I think it is really important to know where DOTA 2 really started, and I think it is a gambling site that is why I came here!

How are you going to evenly pair up players with the same skill levels? I played StarCraft for a few years and the latest edition has a excellent

ranking system built into the online games to pair up players with the same skill levels. There are a lot of people out there who would hustle

other lower ranking players out of their money, if you cannot determine their skill level, before you match them up.  ;)

Bad thing that I'm not playing Dota 1 anymore I'm into Dota 2 and how you are going to pair 5 people or participants wish to join this tournament? You should even make a rule for this. Like 1 bitcoin player + 4 outsiders or it would be all random 5 bitcoin players that will be shuffled upon confirmation of joining for the sure participants.

Actually you will get a hard time to recruit some dota players here since you've actually telling them to play the old version while im pretty sure that old version of dota is not been played anymore by majority of the crowd since there is a dota 2 already.

You should update this thread so that maybe in future you can create your own dota tournament. And be more specific and be appealing so that you would see some better  result.

Maybe the admin could do up a website on other games that is 1 versus 1 beside bitcoindota.com because I believe it would take a long time to wait for 10 players to start the game, due to the timezone difference and the lag if someone is playing at a different zone, the players playing at the server hosting nearer to his country will have more advantage due to the less lag in game.

So 1 versus 1 game would be better and easier to arrange for the players to be in the server closer to them and the match would be able to start faster too.

he will surely need to add some by region feature if he really want to make this happen since your point of view there is right and the main enemy for that matter is lag since in each country we have different netspeed. and also i don't think the timezone well be a barricade since as my experience dota players will always sleep late nor play whatever time it is.

they use elo system for matching a player with soemone else, in reality blizzard use an enhanced version of elo with more probability to match the same skill

There are no hacks that you can a miss skill shots stop talking crap. You only get a map hack and hacked map files where the map you download is not the real one but a hacked one with cheats enabled.

Why bother with dota Warcraft ? Are you living too many years back ? There is no reason not to move on to dota 2.

You will use blizzards official servers ?  If not then everyone will map hack.

maybe OP thinks that warcraft will be appealing since there so many games of choices that we can choose, amd surely yoy enjoy that also before when there's no dota2 around. But in some other thougs outhere you where right since i also see that warcraft players before has evolve and they where prepare to play dota2 rather than spendinh some time on lousy warcraft.

I really have concerns too with people cheating this game. Map hacks were very popular back then and there are quite a lot of people that used it even on competitive games (where they do not have to attend the game personally). I agree with the concern too of how will you match people with specific skill levels? Or are we doing this as randomized team mates?

This would also be a concern on how would teams be categorized depending on the skills they have because if we are just basing on full random then chances of having a cancer teammate is there which is really frustrating and lastly why we will play warcraft if theres already dota 2?
