Title: Why did faucetbox close up shop
Post by: Hydrogen on January 26, 2017, 03:10:54 PM
Does anyone know?

My guess would be multiple accounts hidden behind proxy/vpn put them out of business.

Does anyone know what the real reason was?

 ???

Two words are all you had to search up.

Directly from faucetbox...

"FaucetBOX.com announcement

7th November 2016

We have a sad news to announce: FaucetBOX.com is closing. We disabled creating new accounts today. On 19 December 2016 we will disable our API, which means that faucets using FaucetBOX.com will stop working. We will continue to handle withdrawals for owners and users until 16 January 2017. You have 6 weeks to update your faucets and migrate to other micropayments services. Remember that you have to reach the payout threshold to receive a withdrawal. Faucet owners will have to manually withdraw their coins in Dashboard before 16 January 2017.

FaucetBOX.com never operated with a fractional reserve. We have enough funds to withdraw coins to all users and owners with balance above the payout threshold.

To ease the transition and give alternative to faucet owners, we released Faucet in a BOX update which adds Paytoshi.org, ePay.info, FaucetSystem.com and FaucetHub.io support. We will continue releasing updates of our faucet script in the future.

Despite many efforts and great growth FaucetBOX.com didn’t turn into a profitable business and we’re not able to sustain it anymore.

We would like to thank all of our users, faucet owners and our whole community. You were great and supportive. We are very glad we could deliver you fast, easy to use and secure service. For many faucets are the first contact with cryptocurrencies and we believe that FaucetBOX.com left a positive mark on this industry.

Summarizing:
If you’re a faucet user, make sure you’ve reached the payout threshold before 16 January 2017.
If you’re a faucet owner, make sure you’ve migrated your faucet before 19 December 2016 and withdrawn all your coins before 16 January 2017.
All the best,
FaucetBOX.com team"

Shop  ???

If you are talking about faucetbox faucet service than they have shut it down/closed because they were not earning much to cover their running cost. However there are different alternative which you can try, they give almost same feature like faucetbox, faucethub.io and epay.info are some examples.

It's simply because It was no longer profitable for them and I'm assuming this will happen to other services like It happened to Microwallet and Faucetbox in the past , unless those faucet scripts sites find a way to monetize their products , they will eventually close.

I think its because they were not earning well from the faucetbox. They used to take very less fees from the faucet owners. they never used to take any money from faucet users for their deposit. They didnt have any income other than that. I heard that google banned their adsence account also. So its imaginable that there wont be any profit. I dont know how epay is going to survive because they are also not taking any money from the users and faucet owners. You can use faucethub instead of faucetbox. It has got a lot of features . It has got a lottery and some games also.

people nowadays are becoming smart that knowing how faucet works  will take you long time to reach some good amount of satoshis so they find a good way to get it automatically and fast so they hiring good programmers to automate those things and I think they dont have the security to block those programs.

I always wonder if sites like protypers.com do high volume faucet mining.

Faucets as a bitcoin earning way are dying. Many faucets owners banned on AdSense from where earn the largest part of the profit. Also, steady growth and highest price of bitcoin is not welcome in faucet business.
Faucetbox script had too many bugs, and has become too complicated to fight against bots. simply were no longer beginner-friendly

Faucets was never meant to make a profit. The sole purpose of a faucet was supposed to be to distribute crypto currencies to people to increase

adoption and to stimulate the use of bitcoins. Someone figured out that you might make a little profit and still serve this role and they created the

modern version of a faucet, riddled with ads. Running a successful faucet is a science and most people will tell you, ads alone... will not make you

profitable these days. { There are simply too many faucets out there and companies do not value faucet users as a prime target for their products

and services. }

This is the right answer. The faucets weren't making profits, which meant they couldn't pay much to faucetbox for their service. That whole business model went south once Adsense banned them because other advertisers don't pay much.

I started out with faucets and i did spend some time in faucetbox to get some coins while learning about bitcoin and its transactions ,the moment adsense banned bitcoin faucet sites the problems started as every faucets had to reduce their amount of coins dispensed per claim and it was not a profitable business model after that for the site owners as well as the users.

I know noone could earn anything reasonable on faucets, but even the owners? ;O So it was loose-loose situation, everyone was loosing money and time. Good it closed down. Faucets lost their purpose after fees went up.

Faucets will be resigned to the scrap heap both now and in the years to come,  they end up costing people a fortune in fees due to all the small transactions and i doubt anyone really uses them now anyway.   ::)

It seems faucets seem to be destined to follow the same path as the dodo, fees are increasing, they don’t get enough revenue out of ads, faucet box is closing shop, I don’t like it but it seems faucets are going to become extinct.

about faucetbox is close, i think bitcoin price incraese high is not comoetitif about sending fee if transacion use very low minimum payout
in faucetbox minimum payout only 13k satoshi

another faucetbox, is same open service, you can use epay.info and faucethub.io

Yes, as others said, Faucetbox wasn't profitable, especially when they got ban from Adsense. Almost at same time less popular microtransaction service Paytoshi closed doors for similar reasons.
I'm interested how other similar services can be profitable. Ok, Faucethub have some paid function which helps to earn some money for owner. But how about ePay?. They even don't have deposit fees for for faucet owners. I don't believe that they can earn enough money from ads.

I think the main reason is that dude, because they can not achieve the benefits they want. Because many who use illegal ways.
Plus now popularity of the faucet is on the decline due to a fee that does not comply with the time we spent. I think that two things cause faucetbox and other faucet sites close. thank you
