Title: Mining litecoin Post by: 110240 on April 14, 2013, 09:48:50 PM On the litecoin wallet mining setup it asks for server / port / username / password ? What are these and how are they used? What are the 'default' settings?
What are the advantages of using a third party mining software? What are the best linux based 3rd party mining options and are there any tutorials around on them? Thanks for your help! - me ;D Title: Re: Mining litecoin Post by: cairpre on April 14, 2013, 09:59:38 PM I'm no expert, but having been mining for a few weeks, the server/port/u/p are referring to a litecoin pool which you can join one of many out there. I mine on give-me-ltc.com. Pools make it easier to mine LTC rather than mining by yourself. You'll have to play within various mining software, and it depends on your graphics card setup as to which is the best. For instance I have an NVIDIA GTX 570Ti. NVIDIA cards are notorious for being terrible at mining, but Cudaminer is a great Windows/Linux miner that helps the problem.
