Title: C-CEX.COM annoying login email prompt
Post by: chaser15 on January 28, 2017, 03:08:09 AM
Recently received again another Authorization failed prompt in my email.

How come this is happening in C-CEX.COM? If there is an unusual login attempt how those persons involved got access to some of the email address listed in this site. Im surprised why this is happening since the registered email address must only be accessible to the admins and staffs itself of the site.

Any of you guys experiencing this?

I'm not experiencing your problem on c-cex.com so i assume someone got your email address (the one you used on c-cex.com) and they are trying to log in your account. I've experience the same problem in other sites with one of my email address that got leaked sometime in the past and until now im recieving failed log in attempt notification on my email

No. I tried logging in just now, just to check if there was any problem with mine as well but,
fortunately there aren't any problems.

Authorization was fine. I have also never encountered this particular issue in the past. So..
By the way, have you contacted C-CEX support? They're usually quick to reply and they'd be more able to
help you.

im experiencing one also and i think your email account has been attack by some site you've registered before, and be carefull on registering your email on ico bounties account since that is the one i suspected who tries to steal my balance on c-cex and bittrex account, thats why we must be carefull on registering and use dummy email so that we wont be compromised if same issue will occur again. And also change your password together with your security details.

My suggestion always use Two-Factor Authentication, and you will be fully protected,
from this type attack attempts.

I too have been experiencing the same. I even complained about it twice on their thread and sent a message to the bitcoin member c-cex. I feel it's an issue from their end as I've received 3 such emails. I have even changed my password and activated 2FA. Since you too are receiving the email, I'm sure it is a problem with the site only else all our email accounts have been leaked.

I had no problem at all, maybe it's because I'm not actively trading there and don't have much fund there,I have no problem with all the exchanges I also received their newsletter which is just normal since you part of their users ..

Maybe its CCEX trying to troll you into changing your password and activating 2FA. ;D

Anyway, chaser15 do what erikalui did. Change your password and always activate 2FA in all your accounts that has that feature available. It is only scary to use at first. You will get used to it the more you use the security feature. I feel like 2FA also sometimes allows you to have simpler and easier to remember passwords.

i had to double check because you made me doubt, but you don't log in to c-cex.com with email address but with a username!

this is what has happened to you:
lets assume your username in c-cex is "chaser15" if i go there and try to log in with "chaser15" and "123" as password, the site will send you an email indicating a failed attempt has happened.

simple as that.

Im using different emails per ICO websites and only used that email concerned in C-CEX so I was thinking how is that possible they get those registered list. A random one coming for those attacked sites before?

My password is really hard to know. Im considering using a 2FA too. Thanks.

Really? So what is the specific response you got from there?

Ok so how those person that tries to attempt knows the registered usernames in CCEX.COM? It can only be done by breaching CCEX database list.

And just want to say that you can logged with your registered email too and not just with your username.

Same happened to me months ago so I hae been always using my account with the 2FA activated just to be safe. I'm not also sure how they got access to my email and specially password. It's a good thing that they have to authorize login through emails first. It's the main reason why people shouldn't store coins in exchanges.

No response till now. Sent the the screenshot too via a message but hope that they can detect the IP addresses to check who is trying to hack the account.

Did you contact the owner C-cex (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=220467)?

Do you use Twitter, chaser15? This is one outlet that can be used effectively to get the exchange's attention. Tweeting on their account will let the public know about your issue and the exchange will not want to make a scandal out of this so they will have no choice but to fix your problem as fast as they can.

Just an update: CEX replied to my post:

I am again getting the Authorization Failure message: http://prntscr.com/e1cybp

I activated 2FA but I can't get why am I receiving this message everytime from new IP addresses mentioned in the email. I have never received such messages from any other exchange website. I am confused as how it possible that someone is trying to hack my account again and again. Is this a problem from your side? I sent you a message with my account details. Please look into it.

Looks like someone knows your e-mail address and trying to recover password with recover link. You have nothing to worry about if your e-mail box is safe and you have 2FA enabled. We usually detect IP's of those who make multiple requests of this kind and block it.

However, I'm still getting authorization failure messages and I'm going to change my ID now or delete that account if I get more emails. It's frustrating. :\

you username can be visible in chatbox, if you use it.
It looks like it's already a massive problem, I also several time received  Authorization failed prompt in my email

No, chatbox has chatname which is different from your login. It can be the same only if you put it manually to be the same.

I have also got this types of failed login attempt several times from c-cex and other sites. And i think it is due to my own negligence, i keep using same personal email address to register in every site i came through in past. Better to use separate email for exchages/wallets and separate one to register in new programs.

Today I received email letter that someone is tried to login to my C-CEX account. Attempt was from Russian IP address 5.166.80.202. And it's not the first time when somrone is trying to access my account, and as I see, it happens often to other users. I think C-CEX is the only exchange where users face similar issues so often.

I have also got several failed login attempt alert and those are not only from c-cex. May be your email is spreaded all over the internet like mine, so hackers are trying hard to get into our account even without knowing how much we have inside  ;D (I have 0BTC there).

I'm not entirely sure how other people get access to our c-cex account details tho it is nothing new. I've been receiving these failed login promt since 2016 and the only solutio I could do to prevent whoever that is is to activate a 2Fa to secure my account. I wish c-cex would say something or better yet do something about it tho.

C-CEX is the worst fucking exchange i've ever used.  If you have an issue you can submit a ticket, but you have no clue if it created it.  My account is disabled, i tried to create a new one to contct chat support, and got banned..  now i have two accounts, coins on both, no access, and not a single reply for over a day from them ...

talk about a shit exchange.  never again will i deposit on this cesspool of shit .. now how do i get my fucking coins off there???  fuck you C-CEX

AND FUCK https://bittrex.com for freezing my account on my first deposit leading me to an hour of trying to log into this piece of shit.

I just had this happen to me right now on C-CEX. IP Address was from Gyeonggi-do Suwon, South Korea. I use a password manager / have randomized long passwords so I should be fine but I'm still a little concerned.
