Title: Multibit for android devices?
Post by: shkiser on April 15, 2013, 12:41:42 AM
I swear I read somewhere earlier today there was a multibit app for android phones but I cant seem to find it anywhere. It would be nice to be able to have access to my funds when Im on the go, and not able to access my wallet from home. Is there an app for android? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hi Shkiser,

MultiBit is only available for Windows, Mac and Linux.

The main bitcoin library it uses is bitcoinj, which is also used by Andreas Schildbach's Bitcoin Wallet. I imagine the post you read was mixing the two up.

Yep, you want this app:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.schildbach.wallet

It does the same thing as MultiBit but doesn't support multiple wallets.

Note that currently these apps don't support having shared wallets in the cloud. It can be done, but it needs more work to ensure it's safe for all users including non-experts. So for now you'll have to decide how much money to move from your desktop to your mobile wallet and vice-versa.
