Bitcoin with its limited quantity can not be really used for foreign exchange currency, it can be only used as cyber gold which keeps its value in a nice way. But ideas around blockchain can be use to serve it. Cryptocurrencies in general can serves as an international exchange platform but it will take a while. The elites currently are using the media to sabotage the positive side of cryptocurrencies and propagates the negative side of it.

If the question comes about investment then some people might raise the question about it's vulnerability or about value ups and downs. But for the exchange purpose bitcoin is the best from my point of view. You can easily convert it to your local currency and it's strongly secured.So this will be the best choice for exchanging.
