Title: Help with recovering wallet using MNEMONIC SEED Post by: MisteredF on January 30, 2017, 01:32:09 AM A seller (who has since disappeared) claims he sent me a refund and in his PM to me he wrote:
Quote xxxxx xxxxx room inherit cousin confirm xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxxxxx xxxxxxx etc etc etc (words obviously replaced) That is the mnemonic seed for a bitcoin wallet where I have forwarded your refund, it will still be in confirmation when you read this. I have no clue on how or where to access these funds. It's a small amount but I'd like to get it if possible. I have only used COINBASE and I see no place to use this there for any kind of wallet recovery. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Title: Re: Help with recovering wallet using MNEMONIC SEED Post by: bobitza202 on January 30, 2017, 01:38:39 AM You could try this https://blockchain.info/wallet/#/recover
I just know that COINBASE never gives out private keys from wallets :-\ Title: Re: Help with recovering wallet using MNEMONIC SEED Post by: MisteredF on January 30, 2017, 02:08:38 AM You could try this https://blockchain.info/wallet/#/recover Didn't work. :(I just know that COINBASE never gives out private keys from wallets :-\ Title: Re: Help with recovering wallet using MNEMONIC SEED Post by: cr1776 on January 30, 2017, 02:23:49 AM It could be an electrum wallet seed. Seller might have just faked it too, keep that in mind. Although I feel like he just forgot to mention what wallet he was using himself. Different mnemonic schemes will have different mnemonic lengths.
There are really only two possibilities here. You could either have an Electrum mnemonic, or a BIP 39 mnemonic. You should try restoring the wallet with Electrum and MultiBit HD. Wouldn't be the first time I was scammed (or the last). :D Title: Re: Help with recovering wallet using MNEMONIC SEED Post by: MisteredF on January 30, 2017, 04:01:12 PM It could be an electrum wallet seed. Now I can retire on the $8 he sent me. :D Title: Re: Help with recovering wallet using MNEMONIC SEED Post by: cr1776 on January 30, 2017, 04:40:23 PM It could be an electrum wallet seed. Hopefully by "retire" you mean spend or move to a new address 😀 |
