Title: Why is Appdata\Roaming\Armory so big? (896 megabytes)
Post by: btc123thatthere on January 31, 2017, 10:51:33 PM
Hi there

I'm using an external hard drive to store bitcoin on. However, on C drive the Bitcoin folder still takes up 17.1 gigabytes in the C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming folder.

Also, the Armory folder in C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming takes up 896 megabytes.

All the other folders in C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming only take up 171 megabytes.

I'm using an SSD for my main drive and only have 9 gbyte free on the C partition of 82 gigabytes.

Any thoughts?

You think 896 MB is big? The blockchain (from Bitcoin Core) is over 100 GB now. Older versions of Armory used to replicate the entire blockchain, so that would be another 100 GB. Comparatively, 896 MB is small, and in fact, is too small for Armory. Armory typically takes up around 2 GB for its databases. That it is that large is not abnormal, there is simply a lot of data to deal with.

You can delete the Bitcoin folder if your blockchain is on an external drive.

Create a db using --db-type=DB_BARE if you want the slim db.
