Title: Wallet for XRP
Post by: MoonQuake on February 01, 2017, 10:06:45 PM
Hi folks,

I would like to know if there is anything other than Gatehub to store XRP.

I just can't seem to grasp the Gatehub + gateway thing. Seems like a lot of hops and pain in the ass increasing hacking risks.

I'm fairly new to the altcoin world but why doesn't something like Jaxx have all the currencies into one app where you can have all your wallets for all your chosen currencies?

It's probably the nature of the beast, being a fairly new and obscure environment, but man is the learning curve steep and time consuming for a newbie.

Although I know, nothing ventured, nothing gained right? And most worthy things takes work, time and patience.

Still, it could use some user frindliness lol.

Thanks! :)

Hi guys,
I'm new and I just tried to create a wallet on GateHub and, after I created my profile, I get this: In order to be able to Deposit and Withdraw funds, you have to connect a gateway for the desired currency.
I'm a newbie so, stupid question, what's the gateway is asking for?
Thanks!

So it's not something that I have to care about at the moment if I only want to send the Ripples from Bitstamp to GateHub, right?

I believe this is the only desktop wallet. I hear good things about it, but I don't believe it is still being worked on.
Hopefully Ledger comes out with something, or another HW wallet.

I’ve only sent XRP from Gatehub to Bitstamp.

But the way I see it is,

If it is a Ripple wallet as opposed to a Hosted Wallet, you go to Deposit/Receive and choose Ripple, you are given the Ripple address.

If it is a Hosted Wallet a destination tag is required.

With either wallet when you go to Deposit/Receive, if you need to Generate an address or Connect a Gateway it will tell you so.

What I tend to do if I am not feeling sure about a new wallet/exchange is send a small amount as a test run.

Yeah, I did the same before, I sent from Bitstamp to GateHub 20 XRP and it worked fine, now I've already moved all of them  :)
