Title: 2017: Now it happens
Post by: Joohansson on February 02, 2017, 07:25:16 AM
I've been following Bitcoin and the whole crypto-blockchain-scene closely since 2012 and I'm beginning to see overwhelming positive news over the whole spectrum. Has Bitcoin finally overcome its infancy and beginning its teenage and acceptance in the world? Will 2017 be a good year? I think it will, maybe the best so far.

Which altcoin  ??? almost every coin with big promises are still struggling to get good marketcap.

bitcoin will loose it's marketshare due to lack of innovation and real world usage adoption
Actually marketcap of bitcoin is almost 15 times more than ethereum (second on the list) and talking about real world usage, i haven't seen any store which accept ethereum or monero etc.

30mins for confirmation? come on...
Use around 70-80 satoshi per byte of your transaction than it will get confirmed within next block.  ;)

bitcoin is the only currency actually used for what it is, there is no innovation needed on top of what bitcoin offer already(btw anonimity is a feature not an innovation if you compare it to monero..., bitcoin is already innovative enough

well yeah. every year we are one step closer to real mass adoption and each year we hear better news about bitcoin, and hear less negativity about it. specially in the news and the media. and ever since price started moving up again, and went past the ATH and now is trying it again, many are seeing it as a reliable investment too.
but I hope we can see more merchants and more usage as a currency and less as investment.

2017 is the year of altcoins...

dream on...

Confirmation is just a part of it, for this we cannot define bitcoin has fallen and 2017 to be the year of altcoins. These days the volatility of bitcoin have decreased a lot compared to the altcoins. This makes bitcoin to be the successful digital asset of all time.

I don't think so.. 2016 has seen the rise of many many altcoins and even coins that matched the previous highs of litecoin.

This will be the year of bitcoin. Bitcoin has been stable at much higher levels than in the years before and now itches to blast past the 1000 mark again, this time for a much longer period of time.

According from their current price and 2017 is the better year for bitcoin.

I agree with you, Bitcoin will rise higher on 2017 looking at the analysis of growth in the past 3 days and also early this year but my concern has to do with the delay in transaction confirmations, I think it has to be resolved before I can certainly confirm that it will soar in 2017.

i don't think bitcoin has any competition with altcoin in any sense and the way bitcoin is improving day by day. The altcoin is far away from it and i don't think it has loose its marketshare or it is not innovative..... it is much more innovative then any other cryptocurrency thats why it is the most used cryptocurrency in the whole world...

Yes! it is now happening in 2017. This will be the lucky year for bitcoin. It is now becoming more popular and well-known to the world. Before there are lots of people who doesn't believe on bitcoin but now, the number who patronize it is growing rapidly!

is this one of those endless threads where Bitcoin will make it? Time to open a Bitcoin is dead again thread too. Anyway Bitcoin is in the news more often know and people have it on the radar. Also the price seems to reach certain regions where it will not likely go to much down. But i too miss the progress in the technology. If we want mass adoption, then we need to be prepared. Bitcoin need to be prepared, and right know it is not. This is a danger, that could make this a story with no happy end.

I am starting to see less articles about Bitcoin and its "illegal use" which is nice.this means Bitcoin is going to get a little bit more popular because people are usually staying away from these kinds of things: if you saw an article about an app that is being used by terrorists, I am pretty sure you won't use it ever unless you're an extremely curious person. I hope from this year BTC will rise both in its price and popularity.

in short term it is solved as soon as the attackers stop spamming the network. if you look at this chart https://blockchain.info/charts/mempool-count?timespan=60days you can see what i mean. if it was genuine number of txs we would have experienced 50k+ every day not temporarily.

in long term block size must be increased and there is no escaping that.

i'm not following bitcoin since was born and i think bitcoin already through bad situations on 2014 when people thought the price will continue to fall but bitcoin could proof that little by little able to rise up and i think on 2017 bitcoin will much better than previous years or at least in my point of view that the price will never dropped again to $300 below

I am pretty sure that Bitcoin is gonna be widespread in the world, bitcoin is the cheapest way to transfer money in remittance service. Bitcoin is extremely awesome because blockchain technology is acknowledged by most banks and corporations. In the near future(within 5 years) bitcoinwill be accpeted by the main stream banks and companies.

I dont think soo that bitcoin will be accepted on banks or companies fully in the future instead government will surely create there own e-currency the same to bitcoin but in a form of decentralized one unlike to bitcoin. It may be accepted even more in the future but only to the boundary of being used on money transfers not basing on becoming a main currency.

What problem you are talking about? Those spam transactions clogging bitcoin network? If yes than those attacks can't last for long time so that will not cause much trouble if you add few more satoshi in fees.

Price growth is healthy this days and i think price can easily cross $2K by end of this year.

If you are into bitcoin because you like it as an investment, then I think this is another good year unfolding before us. As O.P. said, we have seen so many good news come out from time to time and the world is slowly witnessing the potential of bitcoin to emerge as a legit currency. 2017 might not be the year that would really push bitcoin to stratospheric heights, but some progress and obvious improvements are always a welcome sight.Better for it to take one step backward and two steps forward.

The adoption of bitcoin will increase this year and so many factors will influence it. The beginning of the year was china's influence now USA took the volume in the past days. The more the demand the more supply the higher the price and bitcoin does much of the trades. How many people know about other altcoin? the diversity and the acceptability. Higher percentage of the ICO will still demand bitcoin and movement bitcoin will continue.

Listen. I like altcoins and I support altcoins - have a whole bunch of them. But at the end of the day Bitcoin is simplly 'the Grand Daddy of them all'. Most people are going to come back always back to Bitcoin. Yes, Bitcoin stands the risk of being outdated and outperformed (technologically) by alts, but, the beauty of it all is those alts are going to pave the way for Bitcoin when it shows how they are doing with some of the innovations and Bitcoin will adopt accordingly.

Well, at the same something important to be noted is the altcoins boom. Recently altcoins got a doubling in its price, during which lot users fall into altcoins. The major problem with altcoins is the increased volatility. On such issue we cannot make a closer prediction about its value movement. This year seems to be the year of digital currencies on the whole.

no doubt for this, i think with the increasingly of the price, people will read in many newspaper in offline and i think they will interesting with crypto currency especially with bitcoin that is far beyond than gold price. the same thing is happen with altcoin and there are many altcoin that will be released in this year. if bitcoin price is increase, then altcoin will follow and make adjustment for the price and if the dev is not strong to follow bitcoin, then its no hope for altcoin to stay side by side with bitcoin.

I guess this is not true because every time that bitcoins price increase, altcoins prices are all in its DUMP state. So, if this year would be the bitcoins year and its price would be steady in $900-1000 per bitcoin, then it would be a long time for those altcoins to PUMP again to their original prices. But, taking the risk and selling some of your altcoins in the current price and hold it until the right time comes when you can have your profit. I mean, if you sold your altcoin in 1 bitcoin and the price of the bitcoin that time was $900 per bitcoin,  then hold it until bitcoins price becomes $1200, so you can have profit.

To be honest I don't think bitcoin is mature yet to truly compete with fiat currencies. Yes bitcoin had a great start and 7 years was a massive journey but frankly speaking, we still have to reach new heights and for that, we need a strong user base as compared to other payment options such as PayPal and MasterCard, visa etc.

I am also seeing that in this year bitcoin is no more in any risk the investors are also very confident with their investment in bitcoin because of the stability of bitcoin in the market (I am not pointing to the stability of price but its acceptance in the market) which is the cause that it will n more face any issue to drop down.

The increasing user base of Bitcoin doesn't guarantee increase in its price. If someone invested in Bitcoin in 2013 @ $1200 still struggling to make single cent in profit. However, what matters is the use of Bitcoin. When the usage of Bitcoin increases, its price will increase automatically. This year we are seeing rise in Bitcoin price because overall volume of Bitcoin increasing. So we can expect 2017, the year of Bitcoin and the year which the 2013 investors are awaiting  ;D

Yeah I agree. Bitcoin is the king of the hill and nothing can stop it. Some potential altcoin like zcash or monero or etherium will have to wait. 2017 does not belong to them. It is the Bitcoin year and I can ensure that the price will skyrocket at the end of this year. No doubt that more and more people have started using bitcoin and invest money in it

I agree to a certin extent, but the blocksize issue could be a thorn in our side  ::)  this whole core/BU thing needs put to bed soon.

I am also seeing that in this year bitcoin is no more in any risk the investors are also very confident with their investment in bitcoin because of the stability of bitcoin in the market (I am not pointing to the stability of price but its acceptance in the market) which is the cause that it will n more face any issue to drop down.
There would be no more huge votality in this year same as or worse than what happened on the first week of january. The effects of selling bitcoin in China is now recovering, I expect that it will continue. It's good news for bitcoin holser but in traders specially who holds alot of crypto currecny/altcoin. Let us just hold and hold bitcoun and wait for the perfect timing to trade/use it.

2017 is the year of altcoins...

bitcoin will loose it's marketshare due to lack of innovation and real world usage adoption

30mins for confirmation? come on...
No new technology have everything fixed from the the word go! In the case of Bitcoin, we can attest that it has been stormed the weather for 8 straight years and looking rather even stronger. For now, there is yet to be an altcoin to displace Bitcoin and until there is one, Bitcoin would continue to wax stronger.

The delay in confirmation was owing to the crowded network and that wasn't totally strange, because the user base of Bitcoin these days is experiencing some unprecedented growth. At any rate, the delays have been taken care of, as would be expected along the journey of any pioneer.
