I don't understand how this has anything to do with Blockchain.info ? I mean Its the miners who are responsible for confirming the transaction based on the fees you use , If you don't pay enough your transaction will clearly not get confirmed regardless of the wallet used and In addiction that , the website where you deposit can't know from where the funds are coming since the addresses are unique.

Yeah in general, this has nothing to do with blockchain.info, but I've noticed that the autmatically calculated fee is sometimes wrong, getting the transaction stuck for several hours or even days.

It's better to just add your own higher fee, then it should go through faster.

They're also crazy unreliable at showing incoming money, often not showing unconfirmed funds until they actually confirm. Also showing confirmed funds as unconfirmed (https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/5rufpd/blockchaininfo_please_get_your_shit_together/) and a bunch of other stuff.

I literally get more support requests that are to do with blockchain.info's crappy wallet than my own casino. I'm at the point where I'm on the verge of putting a warning on the deposit and withdrawal page to not use blockchain.info

I know there are times when they show you the wrong balances like the sender's address is your own address and show it's balance as your own, or experiencing some repeated notifications regarding watch only addresses, but they are good service and trying to hurt their service like this is not professional, they are just a platform and everyone is free to use another one if needed.
Also does anyone know what version they're using? core or bu?

That is true. In default, there will be a smaller fee to send money from blockchain, and if anyone wants to make transaction fast, then one need to increase the fee than you should be able to send money faster to any site not only to gaming sites.

I'd have to say your best bet if you want fast confirmations times is to follow the simple process of paying a higher fee. It kinda sucks that we have to pay a high amount but that's what the network is like these days.

No problem with Blockchain.info themselves, it's going to be an issue with people not paying enough. Simple supply and demand guys!

Blockchain.info is not ideal, but they use dynamic fees which for the most part should be fine.
It is hardly their fault we are having this 'war fee' now and standard 0.0001 fee which was totally acceptable year ago is not gonna confirm your tx even after 10 hours.
Thanks greedy miners and bitcoin community which can't find a way to end scaling debate for that rather than blame wallets.

Correct. And people should figure out by now how to freaking set their own fees, according to their needs.
Need it fast? Then pay more. Have enough time? Then set whatever.

It's not rocket science. It's just that most can't be bothered to learn about calculating/gauging their tx size and corresponding appropriate fees, nor do they even check for current suggested fees.
It's not even gonna take 10 mins figuring that out, but no, they'd prefer blindly setting fees and waiting hours for confirmations. ::)
(There's a nifty little gadget called a calculator, for when it's too much for the brain.)

No, nowadays transactions are very slow, not because of blockchain.info, and not because of spam, I read bitcoin discussion section, people said 1MB is not enough, we need 2MB asap, otherwise we have to enjoy the damn slow speed.

Wallet provider is not important, what important is how much fee is paid per byte. Even you are using blockchain.info wallet but if you pay fees that is high enough to get prioritized by the miners your transaction will get confirmed in few blocks.

If transactions are very slow then there would be less unconfirmed transactions.waiting to be mined. 1mb should be fine imo just double/triple your fee if you really want a fast confirmation time.

I have to agree with you total on the i wouldn't call it a debate , its more bickering and people trying to serve there own purpose , i use blockchain.info and yep always manually put in a higher fee , have no dramas , maybe they should have dynamic fees but with a base amount !!

as a legendary member who has been around for a couple of years you have to already know that it is not blockchain.info's fault that confirmations are taking too long but the fact that people include smaller fees in their transactions than they should based on the fact that fees have gone up a lot. and also the fact that blocks are full and there are lots of transactions waiting in queue!

and in blockchain.info you can easily click on button (i think it is called more or detailed transaction) and set the fees manually yourself. and the fees that site suggests is not that far off or that different from using other wallets. you can however click that easily and increase the amount by a little. for example if it suggested 32000 satoshi increase it to 35000 satoshi.

again this is what's going to happen with all wallets not just blockchain.info even if you use core and include lower fees it will take more time.

I understand that you can put in custom fees and the fault is not entirely on blockchain.info, but many many users just use the easiest send method and run into troubles with it when it doesn't perform how they expect.

By the way, this is a very useful site for everyone for fees (https://bitcoinfees.21.co)

It's their standard fee amount, happened to me a few weeks ago. I had to wait about 6 hours for 1 confirmation when sending 1.5 bitcoin from blockchain.info to a paper wallet. You must use a higher fee than the set fee blockchain.info use.

People should refrain from using bitcoin if they want smooth transactions, there's no particular wallet that will speed up your transaction confirmation, the only thing that can help you is beating everyone else in the fee game.

You shouldn't be using bc.i regardless unless it's for small amounts of money. It's jist a matter of time until they scam or get hacked imo. Any online wallet is a danger.

Guys, dogedigital is not saying that Blockchain as an entity is the issue. The issue is that Blockchain's default fee (which is what almost ever user uses, very few set custom fees) is far to low for fast confirmations. A lot of gamblers wrongfully then complain to the casino (as Ryan mentioned), when the issue is that they did not pay high enough miner fees.

I'm not a regular blockchain user but I have no ideas why bc will turn to a scam as they are gaining nice profit everyday. This discussion is focusing on fee which make the transaction takes too long time to get confirmed. As I experienced using blockchain to send some transactions, I need to make a custom higher fee to get faster confirmation but if I follow the recommended fee then I need wait longer time. I think their recommended/default fee is under the standard fees.

Their standard fee gets me confirmed within 20 minutes before. There are just too many unconfirmed transactions lately that we need higher fees to get it confirmed faster. Made that mistake last week when I transferred bitcoin from blockchain.info to another wallet. I used the standard fee and I waited for more than half a day.

I often deposit to some sites from blockchain and I do not face any issue in paying from blockchain.info but I often feel it as a faster deposit than from other web wallet. The transaction often occur within less than a minute. I mean the first confirmation which occur in less than a minute for me.

I don't think its a Blockchain.info issue. I remember in the past, they used a very small miner fee for all withdraws. I think it was 10000 Sats or so, and then people started complaining so they raised the default fee to match the industry average to get it approved within 1 hour or so. And there is also the option of manually modding your miner fee if you think its not large enough.

I think they get their API data from bitcoinfees by 21 which is pretty accurate in determining which fees confirms the fastest.

Since more and more people are using bitcoins and confirmation becoming slower. It is always good to pay a slightly extra fee to get confirm faster instead of waiting for days. I usually pay around 50K to 60K Santoshi for my transaction and get approved much faster.

I think it is not blockchain.info's fault ,they have all the tools needed for you
to adjust the fees according to the situation blockchain is in
they have dynamic fees and you can always click detailed info and choose the fee yourself
the problem is that they are one of the most popular online wallets out there
and I don't want to generalise, but it seems that the users with core or standalone desktop,mobile/hardware wallets
are more experienced in terms of mempools, fees and bitcoin in general so there are less chances of them to send a 1.2 kb tx with 20.000 satoshi fee
and then whine half a day to support because they have been waiting for too long

the number of support tickets some of the owners have regarding .info wallet is in direct ratio with the popularity of the wallet
I bet that at least 50% of online gamblers are using it to satisfy their day to day gambling needs

Im assuming OP meant the blockchain wallet. I use both blockchain and bitcoin core wallet and it seems the only thing that makes any difference on confirmation speed is the transaction fee. Usually 100k fee will do it for me (within 10 minutes for confirmation most of the time) but 50k for when im low on bitcoin (20 min to hour average).

50k should be a reasonable fee to pay for the each transaction. I do pay around same range but if my amount is more than 0.5BTC than I will increase more towards 100k.  But most of my small transactions I usually use my XAPO account and until now there was no fees and used to get confirmations quite fast.

Nope some people use online wallets at a site called Blockchain.info and they are struggling with confirmations. I have also picked up, that Blockchain.info is also slow to update what happens on the Blockchain. If I use blockexplorer.com it shows a up to date situation, but Blockchain.info shows old information.

You should just use https://bitcoinfees.21.co to calculate the fees for you.

Laterally for some reason there have been transaction with HUGE miners fees in them. I think there was a block which had a 3-4 BTC miner fee alone. Basically 3-4X as large as usually and it messed up fees for many.

One guy sent $100 with his Trezor and ended up being charged $10 in fees alone for a 1 output 2 input transaction of 200-300 bytes at most.

Hence you should manually set your fees from now on using Bitcoinfees.21.co, go there and see what the fastest and cheapest is. Which is currently 140 sat/byte, and just make it 50% larger and it should confirm with the next block. Don't let it automatically select for you, or you will get charged $10 per transaction.

Agreed.
Automated fees aren't bad in themselves. Sure they work, but they're only for noobs. Anyone with a bit of experience of cryptocurrencies knows that btc is good for its flexibility! You want fast transactions? You pay high to be able to get in the next block. You have time? Then you put the bare minimum. Putting automated fees is just taking a useless risk out of... Pure lazyness.

I don't have idea about trezor but blockchain.info provide feasibility to choose fee and they also estimate time to wait for given fee. This will only turn out to be exact when there is not much congestion on bitcoin network but if mempool is full better to just slightly increase recommended fee by them for confirmation within 1 block. I am doing this from starting and even right now mempool is almost full but got my transaction confirmed within next block using around 150 satoshi/byte fee.  ;D

If a player really wants to get his deposit fast into his account to any casino site, the best way is to use higher fees, looking at the huge number of unconfirmed transactions in blockchain now, I would recommend to use the minimum amount miner fees of 0.0002 BTC to send your bitcoins out of your wallet.

Any amount lower than 0.0002 BTC miners fee at current state, I suppose it would be a super long wait for the player to get 1 confirmation from the blockchain :D

Yes. 0.0002 is the very minimum for the miners fee. I experience the long wait since last year which is why I  didn't use it after it. Electrum asks 0.0005. Miners pick these transactions to have better profit of course.

What I like about blockchain.info however is that they adjust the fee on thier own so there would be nothing left on our wallet which  is pretty neat unlike using the hard drive wallets that until now two of the wallets I've had still has extra 0.000004 btc left on it. I still didn't uninstall these wallets because I still want to use them later even when it will take days to sync them again.

We can set the fee on blockchain as we wish, cant we? Means that if we want to get faster transaction so we need to set higher fee.

What if most of the people will do that? Do you think it will still goes to a "fast transaction"?

Setting high fees doesn't mean you will get a fast confirmation but rather you are increasing the chance that you will be on the priority list. Since there are people who also sets a much higher fees than usual, the line of priority list is just getting longer so nothing to do but wait even you applied a much higher fees.

Visualize this : You have a queue system, where you pay a fee to stand in the queue. The higher fee you pay, the better chance you have to advance to the front. The rich people will be helped first and the poor people will have to wait. Is this really what we want for Bitcoin?

If everyone starts paying higher fees, then there are still only one queue with the same capacity and everyone will be waiting. ^hmmmmmm^

Questions 2: How else do you send btc besides through blockchain?
1. As far as I know you can set transaction fees manually anymore. New HD Blockchain.info will take care of it and automatically choose the best possible (lowest) fee.

2. If by "blockchain" you are referring to blockchain.info then you need to know that this isn't the only Bitcoin wallet available. It is one of many online bitcoin wallets.
There are also software wallets, by many considered more secure and safe option than keeping your coins in online wallet. For example you can use: Electrum, MultiBit HD, Armory.

There are also software wallets, by many considered more secure and safe option than keeping your coins in online wallet. For example you can use: Electrum, MultiBit HD, Armory.

1. you can still set fees in the new interface too. it is a simple button at the bottom of the page where you set receiving address and amount, you click it and then set any fee you want.

2. these wallets aren't "more secure" on their own, you can be running any of these on a compromised computer (a system with a keylogger for instance) and lose all your funds.
the most secure way is a cold storage that is done right.

I have 2 questions:

Question 1: I use blockchain.info for my wallet how do you adjust fees?

Questions 2: How else do you send btc besides through blockchain?

I can confirm that the default fee with blockchain iOS app is definately nowhere near the https://bitcoinfees.21.co/ average for fast confirmation.

Basically its almost less than half that and depending how lucky you are it might take 1 or 2 days to confirm. And many new people never use higher fees because it always warns them that the higher fee isn't necessary and it should confirm right away within the hour but that's not true.

They really need to fix this or get some other way of calculating how the fees should be calculated. Imagine buying something at a store and having to wait 24 hours until you get your item.

if i use blockchain before sending bitcoin I need to see the link below

https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions

if I see around 40k transactions unconfirmed better I postpone my transactions until really it was only 20k Unconfirmed transactions will be easier because my transaction immediately confirmed

one more note, I also often notice miner machine that is really active on this image
https://s24.postimg.org/chfh0wtet/relayed_by.png

if I've seen Viabtc, btccpool,bw.com and some tools mining major also seen there of course I will do a transaction to send bitcoin me, so in my opinion is not wrong to use the wallet blockchain moreover should use Fee large transactions, in some time, I often do not see them miners miners large inactive, so only a few small miners to find the block it is not too soon :)

Yeap, agree on this. The deposits are slow

Yesterday i wanted to deposit $10 to bitsler site.

I even sent extra $0.27 as fee compare to previously when i just add $0.14 (Of course due to the price of btc raising) Still, with 70 satoshi per bytes, it takes hours to reach bitsler for 1 confirmation.

And i check on the bitcoin fee site, the ideal fee to sent is 140satoshi per byte when the transaction size for me is 366 yesterday.

Not sure if the fees is too small for the miners to accept or there's lesser miners in the pool now :(

I think it is actually easy to overcome is to realize many gambling sites that will not hurt them to add deposit their users without having to wait 1 or 3 confirmation transaction bitcoin, I think it also has to start from gambling sites to accept deposits users with zero confirmation

I agree with you to solve this problem should also need to be conscious of the owners of gambling sites and good cooperation with users to resolve problems on the full transaction in some time, at least they could be able to start receiving zero transaction confirmation bitcoin when their users make a deposit without had to wait a long time, but I've found it here

Actually deposit does not really matter to me, as long as they have some notification on their site I am sure it will always get some confirmation but when it comes to withdrawal it needs to be fast because if it is not fast people will think this is a scam. This is an usual problem, that is why usually I always used higher fee so it will instant

yeah right, people always think that if the withdrawal process is very slow, it is a scam, but in real talk, there is no need to judge that immediately if the site provide TXID to track the withdrawal process just like on bitsler. But if the site didn't provide TXID, that is the best time to think about that the site is a scam site.

Bitcoin transactions have been very slow of late, and it does not apply to blockchain only. Even other wallets are experiencing the same even if you set higher fees. Blockchain is the best because you will set your own fees unlike some wallets which preset the fees for you - mostly high.
