Title: Bitdouble.io Bracket Competition (1BTC in Prizes)
Post by: BitDouble.io on February 05, 2017, 08:15:03 PM
https://i.imgur.com/9Bp97Xs.png (http://bitdouble.io)

Bitdouble.io (http://bitdouble.io) has reached its 6 month Anniversary so we'd like to celebrate that with our own unique contest. We hope to see everyone participate and have your chance to win the 1btc prize pool.

What kind of contest is this?

We are going to do our own version of a bracket competition. Basically it's like the brackets you see in the playoffs of all the major sporting events. The winners will all be chosen based on our own game though.

Let me explain how this works so you all can better understand the competition.

Everyone whom registers in this thread will be placed on our bracket. Your place on the bracket will be determined by when you apply to join contest. There will be 4 regions. Northeast, Southeast, Northwest, and Southwest. If you join the competition 1st you'll be #1 spot in the Northeast bracket. If you join 2nd youll be #1 spot in Southeast bracket and so on. Below is an example bracket for everyone so that you get an idea of what we mean here.

https://i.imgur.com/vmsOpwc.png

How do we join?

Everyone is eligible to join the contest. 1 entry per bitcointalk account is all we ask. We will accept entries from Feb 5th-Feb 19th. To be entered you must

- Wager 25mbtc
- Post your bet ids in this thread proving you wagered 25mbtc(we will check)
- Post your bitdouble name

Once you've done all these steps and we verify you made the bets(winning or losing) youll be entered into the bracket. No we arent gonna update the bracket after every single entry, but not to worry, you're spot is reserved in the order you post in this thread with your application.

How do you get your bet IDs?

On the main screen on the top right hand side youll see your email address. Scroll over that and click bets history. There you can retrieve your bet IDs.

How do we win?

This is the interesting part IMO. To win it will depend on our roulette wheel. Its gonna be totally random. As you look at the bracket you'll seed numbers along the sides. That's what seed you are. Notice that seed 1 faces seed 16 in each of the regions. These numbers as far as #1 facing #16 will be different based upon number of entrants. If we have 200 entrants then #1 will face #50. We will adjust the bracket for this. The lower seed in every round will have the numbers 1-7 on our wheel. The higher numbers will have 8-14 on our wheel.

We will announce(in advance) when we are starting to do the results. We are also having 1 of our mods video the contest and post them to Youtube. Once we start doing the results for each spot in the bracket, the winner of each roll will move on. The loser is out. If a 0 is rolled we will use the next result to choose a winner.

We will be doing each round separately. 1 round per day and each round will be done every 3 days til we have reached a winner. We hope that since we are gonna announce in advance the days and time we will be doing the results, that we get a large audience watching the results happening.

How long is the contest?

We will accept entries from Feb 5th 2017 to Feb 19th 2017. We will accept no ore entries past 23:59UTC on Feb 19th. We will announce round 1 within a few days of Feb 19th.

What are the prizes?

We are paying 4 spots for this contest:
- 1st gets .4btc
- 2nd gets .3btc
- 3rd gets .2btc
- 4th gets .1btc

When we get down to the FINAL 4 users, the Northeast bracket and Southeast bracket will go 1st. The loser will receive 4th place money. Then we move on to Northwest and Southwest bracket. The loser there will receive 3rd place money. Then we have the championship. Loser getting 2nd place money and winner getting Grand prize.

Rules

- 1 entry per bitcointalk account
- Must wager 25mbtc
-Min bet per bet ID is 1mbtc
-Wagers after bet ID 345445 only will count
- Must post bet IDs proving you wagered in your application
-If you make all 1mbtc bets You will post a maximum of 25 1mbtc Bet IDs in your application

If we dont receive a minimum of 30 entrants not including twitter, we reserve the right to cancel this promo.

I forgot to post a rule but its updated now. Min bet per bet ID is 1mbtc. We arent checking a million bets per user thats playing via the faucet. You will need to wager .001btc to post that bet id

Wagers after Bet ID 345445 only will count. The above entries are old bets and will not count

We need to see 30 users enter this contest in order for it to continue. Its not hard to wager the 25mbtc especially if youre betting multiple bets at once. For example, red and black at same time, or green and red at same time

The loser there will receive 3rd place money. Then we have the championship. Loser getting 2nd place money and winner getting Grand prize.

Can this be changed to a format where all four compete at the same time? This tilts the favor slightly for the northwest and southwest brackets given that there's a third place prize guaranteed if you make it to the final 4.

Your placement in the contest depends on when you sign up, so you can slightly change your odds i guess by signing up and being placed in the bracket you feel has the advantage. IMO it doesnt really matter though, its all gonna be random luck. Anyone who make final 4 will make money and i think be happy about it as the requirements to enter arent that hard

Anytime you change your PW our system locks your withdraws for 24 hours. Its just a security precaution in case account was hacked. Your coins will be available, youll just have to wait the timeframe out

2 consecutive entries by newly registered accounts (they literally posted their entries just minutes after registration) that have only been active long enough to post only one message and haven't been heard since. It is as if they were created by the same person, solely for the purposes of entering this competition. Seems a bit suspicious. Bitdouble needs to run an IP check before starting the draw.

So far we have about 15 entries it seems. We will need another 15 entrants in order for the contest to not be cancelled.

Im noticing alot of newbies joining, not that its against the rules, but id like to see some older members of the community in this gamble. 25mbtc isnt hard to wager at all if you use your brain.

So meaning if this competition doesn't meet the 30 participants, the competition will be canceled. Right?

Is there will be a compensation just in case it will happen?

Ok. Forget everything I have said about multi-accounters in this thread so far. The last 3 newbie entries take it to the next level.

Link to profile                            Time of registration           Last active

3: https://archive.is/EhElX         Today at 04:19:50 AM         Today at 04:22:26 AM

These 3 accounts were created, used and dumped in a matter of minutes (similar to the previous newbie entries). However, if you look at the registration and last active times you'll see that someone has been entering the draw multiple times, albeit in a very obvious and detectable manner.

If this is not mult-accounting, then I don't know what is. Every entry made so far needs to undergo an IP check.

There is a multi-accounter participating in this competition. Multi-accounting is essentially cheating since it gives unfair advantage to them. Does this behaviour not look like someone is cheating here? Of course, you'd have to say no since you are one of the accounts I tagged above.

I am not against newbies. However, it seems that this multi-accounter (you) is using newly registered accounts to enter and abuse this competition. I am sorry for attacking newbies that are not using multiple accounts whilst exposing this cheater.

The spreadsheet has been added to the OP. We will verify the users bets on the final day of the competition, so spots are subject to change if users didnt bet the right min amount.

Ok. Forget everything I have said about multi-accounters in this thread so far. The last 3 newbie entries take it to the next level.

Link to profile                            Time of registration           Last active
1: https://archive.is/NYkwy        Today at 03:41:23 AM        Today at 04:03:34 AM
2: https://archive.is/P3ExW        Today at 04:04:38 AM        Today at 04:18:59 AM
3: https://archive.is/EhElX         Today at 04:19:50 AM         Today at 04:22:26 AM

These 3 accounts were created, used and dumped in a matter of minutes (similar to the previous newbie entries). However, if you look at the registration and last active times you'll see that someone has been entering the draw multiple times, albeit in a very obvious and detectable manner.

If this is not mult-accounting, then I don't know what is. Every entry made so far needs to undergo an IP check.

What are you trying to achieve?
Newbies are allowed to participate.

Save yours words, you fail for be a hero today.

how to participate here?

It's pretty simple to understand please read this quote that is very clear about how to participate.

you need to read the rules

- 1 entry per bitcointalk account
- Must wager 25mbtc
- Min bet per bet ID is 1mbtc
- Wagers after bet ID 345445 only will count
- Must post bet IDs proving you wagered in your application
- If you make all 1mbtc bets You will post a maximum of 25 1mbtc Bet IDs in your application
- Must post your bitdouble username
- If you post bets IDs claiming you wagered but are just trying to cheat without meeting wager requirements you'll be removed from contest.
- 25mbtc wagered doesn't mean 24.9mbtc. You'll be expected to wager the minimum to be qualified.

I see all the newbies applying and I think we shouldve added a rule for btctalk acct must be a certain rank to join. The problem with that is some of our players were brought to us via twitter and other advertising methods. So theyre legit new accounts. thenitro and CHelat are 2 of the bigger players on our site. Id have to look into the others, but i guess my point is we wanted the contest open to anyone. Didnt expect the contest to be taken advantage of. We will try to consider this on future promotions.

I think it is only fair to exclude newbies you are not able to verify. You can accept entries via other media, or use them to confirm newbie entries here.

If newbs win all the prizes, it will not appear fair to honest participants. A little more so if the drawings aren't provably fair.

The competition is decided by our own roulette wheel. Its totally random. Going by your logic its impossible for a newbie to be a legit account?

There's have two ways:
1. People Trying to cheating of the contest.
2. They're Real.
As spelled out ndnh when the winner is newbie it's like to unfair (1players). We also must not prejudice, Contest's running only on forums bitcointalk then allowing for new players who sign up here to join contest. I really have not more idea, I'm just trust contest running as fair.
Goodluck everybody ;)

I guess i can see what you mean. We have held many promos and paid them all. Not all were newbie winners. We arejust trying to allow as many ppl a chance to enter as possible. Any way we go about it, ppl would still be able to cheat. As i hear many have bought accounts here.

How would you suggest we combat this?

I think back again to the organizers, how to review / analyze like information obtained. If you can catch there's are ppl trying to cheating just kick out from the contest. Due to regulations established in the beginning there are no rank qualifying.

Regularly perform IP checks on all of the accounts that enter a promotion. If you find a multi-accounter, freeze their accounts, confiscate their winnings from promos and ban them forever.

Newbies can be both legit or cheating as Zoel said. I am not against clean newbies entering a competition, but the thing is that newbie accounts are so easily made by anyone. That is why you should keep an extra eye on newbies if you decide to let them participate.

Regarding on verification we should not doubt on the management of bitdouble because they are making the best possible solution in any circumstances and talking about newbie account its not actually a bad thing but multi-accounts arent allowed, management could easily identify whose making multi-accounts and do cheat on the promo.

We will be doing the 1st round for the competition Feb 21st(tomorrow) 7pm UTC or forum time if that helps anyone. We welcome anyone who wants to watch the results to be in our chat at that time.

If anyone has questions on how this will work, ill try to explain that now. We will start with the outside game for northeast bracket. Since there were 9 spots entered in northeast and southeast we will roll each of the outside spots at the start of each bracket. This will get us to the result of either 8th seed or 9th seed taking on number 1 seed. Then we will continue down the bracket.

It will go northeast, southeast, northwest, and finally southwest. We will announce a date for round 2 after within a few days.

It appears that we made a mistake and put a player with no application in the contest Humanxlemming is technically not participating in this contest. In lieu of that we are going to do a random.org drawing for the 3 players he beat. The winner of the drawing will take his place in the money.

The 3 players who will be in this drawing are

thenitro
ndnh
bagzcoin

The order was chosen based on your seed in the competition. Whomevers # is chosen via random.org will be placed in a money spot.

Congrats ndnh youre back in and guaranteed money.

Sorry for the screw up everyone

Wow!!! Thank you!

I can relate this to an event in RL where I was eliminated on the very first round, got in (because of a weird reason that I cannot explain without giving too much details) and went on to win the first prize! ;D

Part of my winnings will go to https://give.wfp.org
