Title: BitStamp vs MtGox
Post by: nak on April 16, 2013, 01:43:21 PM
Anyone noticed that for the first time in a while, BS is trading at higher prices than Gox? Could MTGox be losing it's chokehold on the BTC Exchange market?

I'm not shure your are asking the right question. Would it not be better to look at volume traded ?

Understandably MTGox has higher volume, but for the first time I've noticed prices higher on BitStamp, I think it's really starting to gain traction.

Bitstamp offer cheap and fast SEPA payments, therefore I think many EU residents prefer it.

It's also more reliable than Mt GOx.

I was wondering if it was related to how easy it is to get money in and out. Bitstamp was usually lower because it was easier to get money out than gox so sellers would accept a slightly lower price in return for better withdrawal service. Then in the boom, buyers moved to bitstamp to get away from gox and pushed the price up. Then in the bust, everyone wanted their money out again, so they sold on bitstamp and pushed the price down compared to gox.

I'm just guessing, though.
