Title: I wish to move 250.000$, how do I do that?
Post by: JackH on June 16, 2011, 11:34:19 AM
If I want to move 250.000$ how can I get the equivalent in BTC for that. It seems that MtGox doesnt allow for more than 1000$ a day. So how on earth can someone ever move large amount of money to BTC?

contact them directly and they can allow you to withdraw more, but you'll have to have more proof of identity so they can adhere to proper laws.

Send them a copy of your ID and they'll increase your limits based on your risk profile.

Moving more than $1000 INTO mtgox is not a problem. Moving it out is another story.

Place demand across the bigger exchanges and let the price move up and cover your dollars. If you're buys move btc up to $50 /btc for instance then it should be easier to cover, you may have to wait to cash it all out again though but I'm sure the market will stick to the new price level, continue on up probably.

Once its safely stored in BTC there is no problem from my point of view. Its going to be the currency of the future anyway, its just a matter of time before enough merchants start offering BTC payments and it will be used for the majority of internet purchases.

But sure cashing out is also convenient to do, but again, its all about time I am sure.

If I had $250k of BitCoin I'd be cashing a lot of it and paying off my mortgage. Given the choice between being a slave now and maybe very rich tomorrow, or being free forever but most likely poor in the future, I'd choose the latter every time.

Just wire your 250,000 to mtgox and put in a buy order. Then watch the price shoot up to $25. :)

Based on the current market depth, buying $250k worth of BTC on mtgox would drive the price up to almost $24!

Which is also why I feel like this thread is a bull troll.

Which is why is said IF!

I did not say when, I just asked how. How because if there is no real easy option for it, then we will never get BTC up and running in a high gear. At the moment I am NOT planning to spend 250.000$ to put into BTC, but I was wondering how it would be possible for such a large amount to be exchanged since its a mayor factor in respect to the BTC success.

And now that this question has been asked and answered (i.e. How do I put more than $1000 USD into Mt.Gox to buy Bitcoins) it will show up on search engines and the like.

Seems straightforward enough to me: either send in an ID, or create 250 $1000 accounts on Mt.Gox.
