Title: Unconfirmed transaction for 3 days (panicking)
Post by: cheektocheek on February 09, 2017, 08:17:41 AM
https://blockchain.info/tx-index/e1a1b7e6c96645914b341139d6419524a19cd2f189ee1c7ad25a11be2fc0c962

I send this to another wallet only to receive 0 confirmations after 3 days. I googled for possible solutions to my predicament
but I don't understand the "how to" in what they advice you to do. Using pywallet and input a command etc. I have no idea how to do that.

Am I at risk of losing these funds? will they return to me automatically at some point ? how long?

Imagine if this was a lot of money. This has made me feel concerned using btc for big amounts.

Looking for an easy to comprehend solutions please. I am a pc n00b.

no matter what happens you are not going to lose the funds. because there are only two possible scenarios:
1) your transaction is confirmed at some point which means it is complete!
2) it is not confirmed, it stays in the mempool for a while and drops out eventually (~72 hours) and then you can spend it again.

also go to this board: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=4.0
and see all other similar situations like yours and the solutions are all the same.

p.s. you have 26 satoshi per byte which is too low for your transaction size (https://bitcoinfees.21.co/)

also you can use this tool (https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/) to accelerate your transaction for now.

It's clear that your fault makes your transaction really slow to get confirmed due to the low fee. You should check the current fee/bytes first before sending to make sure your transaction's fee wasn't below the current requirement. Even if you send 500 BTC at the same time if you give above of the current requirement fee your transaction will be confirmed fastly.
Though, honestly, I've made a mistake about setting up low fee same as you which is 0.0001 recently and luckily got confirmed within ~30 hours, my bad indeed.

For another time, I really recommend you to use some sort of bitcoin wallets that have a feature to set up the requirement fee automatically.

Thanks a lot.

I used viabtc and it says "acceleration succeeded" and now my transaction finally has a confirmation. Many thanks buddy!

I will be careful in the future to set higher fees.
