Same thing with every other "general purpose" cloud offering I've priced out - and they ALL cost a lot more over the course of a 2 year period (and often more than the course of a 1 year period) vs buying the actual hardware yourself. There is a way to get around it, but still, mining cryptocurrency is against Google's Terms of Service. You could probably get around it by downloading a custom mining application, since most miners are open sourced and Google probably has a team to detect these programs. Are you trying to mine bitcoin? Google will automatically ban your account. I can see that article, but it is showing how to verify your google account. You need your card to have some amount of balance in it before verifying other wise it won't work.
