Title: Sapphire nitro+ 4gb question
Post by: Jdope on February 10, 2017, 01:04:50 PM
Hey, i just recieved my sapphire nitro+, its a hynix memory and I'm trying to figure out what modifications should i do to get a better hashrate, i started with flashing my bios to anarok's mem strap bios version, it went up from 22 mh on 120W to 25mh on 110W, is there anything else i can do to get a better hashrate? I'm kind of new to mining so if there is any guide i can read about memory strapping, under volting or overclocking i would appreciate it, i tried searching on the forum but i got nowhere, probably using wrong key terms

Nothing simple - either a shitton of work ahead, or stay with what you've got.
Thats why i asked about guides to read, i want to gain more knowledge about how this operation works. If there's no one to guide me, at least to where that knowledge exists, how can i gain it?
I had Sapphire Nitro+ 8gb RX470. I use 1625Mhz timing in upper state. You need use 1500 Mhz timing in upper state. Download rom from you card and open with Polaris Bios editor. You need only copy 1500 Mhz timing to 1625,1750,1900 and 2000 Mhz value. Save the bios and use Atiflash to flash to your card. I have a 165 Mh with 6 card and 650W power.

Hey, yeah my hash rates were after modding my bios, i tried to underclock the core and increase the ram clock and i had some good results but i honestly don't know what i'm doing so far lol

The only thing left to do is to find the optimal VRAM timings by yourself, instead of using those of a lower strap.
This is a very frustrating and tedious task, start by learning Hexadecimal.

Honestly I wouldn't bother unless I had 5-6 GPUs. Even then I'd buy a ROM from someone like Eliovp.

If you are using Windows then download msi afterburner,  run your card @ 1100 core and 1900 memory,  and apply some under voltage,  start by - 48 mv

On *solo* mining ETH you should be getting 28+ with that card. Don't stop until you are. Google it, search the forum, it's all there. Also, install GPUz, and go in the settings/info page to make sure your ASIC quality is above 70%. I got all mine above 80% by returning, rebuying, but it's a pain. You get more stability with undervolting if you have better asic quality. Don't install other bios. Just do your own with polaris. Takes a few seconds. Flip the card bios into the side facing the monitor out (slow mode bios by default), and use ATIFlash (orWinFlash) to save a copy. Back that up, then copy/paste the file and rename to "modded." Open it in Polaris, copy the 1500 line, paste values into the higher lines, then ATI that bios back to the card. Reboot once or twice. Then use afternburner to -100mv (AB will show as -96), underclock core to 1100, and overclock mem to 2000.  With that much undervolt, it'll crash once a week, but I have scripts to make the system reboot and restart mining within 2 minutes flat. Worth it for the energy savings at -100mv. Once in a blue moon have to set -100mv again in afterburner if a reboot caused it to lose that setting, but it's easy peasy lemon squeesy with teamviewer mobile app. No harm whatsoever to occasionally crash and reboot with -100mv.

The rest is on you. Learn, read, study, try, fail, try again.  Good luck.

Hey all, thanks for the help!

I tried setting my core clock at 1100 but it crashes instantly, after multiple tries i think anything less than 1170 crashes it, also tried undervolting with it, i was at 28 mh with 80W but it kept crashing, currently i stand at 28 MH with 100W, my cards are 75.5 and 73 asic qualities, weird thing is the 73 one actually performs better
