It all revolves around your electrical costs. If it's high (I.e above ~10cents U.S) then it'll be more difficult to make profit. You'll also need to factor in location, which leads to cooling as you will find it's a lot harder to keep miners running without hardware errors in hot places. Finally, it's up to the price of a miner and how quickly ROI can be reached. Keep in mind BTC has a fluctuating price, and people used to think the S9 would be unprofitable overall... that was far from the truth!

1.53 btc for a miner is seriously a lot. Yet I saw it have over 1000+ $ profit annually.

This post does really have all the answer on OP question related to bitcoin mining and i do agree on this antminer s9 is the latest miner on bitcoin but piece of advice for you op that you should consider first the electricity rate on your country before tending to mine bitcoin because if you do have expensive electricity charge then mining wont be profitable at all.

OP better then going for Bitcoin mining you can go for Altcoin mining which is profitable more then Bitcoin as Bitcoin mining difficulty level has gone high and you wont get much profit comparing to the expenses you are going to occur.

For a newbie a like you, mining bitcoin I think is not the right time yet for you to do it. It is because there are many types of mining rigs where you can use it to mine bitcoin but you'll gonna need a lot of money in terms you like to buy a mining rigs. The place must be in the cold area to minimize cost of electricity if not in the end the cost will be much higher than your profit.

if you have to ask questions like that on a forum,I suggest you do not start with mining
it has too many things you have to take into account and a total newbie would not be able to achieve ROI or profit
well to answer your questions:

1.take electricity price into account,it is very difficult to profit with electricity costs over 0.05-0.07 $ for kwH
your ROI could be 12 months or more and by that time faster,more advanced miners could appear and delay your ROI even more
2.buy the most efficient equipment (at the moment it is s9 Antminer)
3. make sure your operations are safe - i.e. you do not run a risk of the goverment confiscating your miners (like in Venezuela,for example)
4. if you are planning to mine at home,make sure you ready for the noise your miners will produce
some of them sound like a mini turbine and it is prety much impossible to live in one room with 3-4 of them
5. mining time is your money and any malfunctions cut into your profit and delay ROI even more
so buy your equipment from authorised shops to be able to send them back for repairs,or pay less for a second hand miner and be prepared for it to die
at any moment as the newest miners are very unstable in this regard,people who mine say there is a 20-40% chance of your equipment to break during the warranty period
i.e. every third of your miners could break   :-\
6. business plan and the exit strategy,know where to sell your equipment and how to calculate your gains and expenses
know when to exit if the difficulty is too high,your miners become less efficient or outdated and the bitcoin price is not moving up as fast as you planned

That is right, better to mine altcoin than bitcoin because there are lot of people who wants to mine bitcoin and it is really hard to mine now. Mining altcoin will be profitable better than bitcoin if you think of it.
