I've always been a user of Paxful but I've went on LBC a couple times, the two companies seem to have a good amount of similarities but Paxful seems more polished and easier to use. One thing on the other side is that LBC has a ton more people doing deals on the site, anyway on here that can shine some light on the positives for LocalBitcoins that make them such a popular pick over a nicer site with (probably) better customer support?

I have only heard bad things about Paxful, such as their escrow system allowing scams easier than other ones. Personally, I would go for Localbitcoins, since I have heard good about it and it is a Finnish company. Though, all this depends on what I would be using it for.

I never use this Paxful just because of this cannot say any thing about this but I am using Localbitcoins for sometime never have any issue escrow service is also doing very good best thing support is very active they replied my all messages very quickly and positively just because of this I can vouch for them

The thing with those services is that they are legit but sometimes you are simply dealing with professional scammers who targets newbies , not to mention that some accounts with high feedback and positive trust are being sold and bought on the forums In order to scam people for large amounts. It's a matter of your personal choice at this point but I'd go with LocalBitcoins because It has more userbase and exists for a longer time.

1.Localbitcoins is truly peer to peer with cheapest service fees.
2.Their automated escrows are one of the best middlemen services around.
3.Barely people get scammed through LBC.
4.At the end of the day,it depends on which country you're coming from.

Im on localbitcoins.com because it has many supported locations or countries. You can trade or exchange bitcoin in the place near you and a lot of ways of payment.  I just dont know if paxful can do that. Lbc i think is the most trusted by people. But Paxful is good too. But few people are using this.

IMO they are different types of site, lbc is a place to trade among users, paxful is not, it looks like shapeshit type. So it is quite different. You know LBC is awesome, trading price usually higher than market price.

localbitcoin for me, it's more known than paxful and more trustworthy, but still you need to pay attention to scammers and federal agent that seek for people that operate without the right license for money trasmitting

Since I read that news that Paxful CEO was arrested in Miami on weapons and drugs charges I would rather not use Paxful at all.
People like this + bitcoin exchange is not the ideal combination IMO. We had one Karpelès, and that is enough.

Why do I feel that's an hoax ? You know the competitive exchanges will try their best to beat their competition.Stuff like this happens all the time.Also that article doesn't really mention what who and where.

I cannot guarantee this is 100% accurate info, as bitcoin related news services has history of spreading somewhat inaccurate gossips.
But I doubt they would write blatant lies like this. They would be sued by Paxful CEO for slander if that news was fake.
Plus, I looked up this story and it seems this report is presented on at least 10 more BTC news portals.

I prefer using localbitcoins to paxful but it all comes down to the availability of the trade am looking for!
And I agree LBC has cheaper escrows fees and you are less vulnerable to be scammed from there as compared to paxful.

There is no doubt that localbitcoins is the first of its kind and paxful have popped up quite recently. That's why localbitcoins have more traders than paxful, i have also used both of them before. However i like localbitcoins because of lots of buy/sell offer with much more favorable terms for me.

I talked to few traders from Paxful, and unfortunately, most of the transactions they offer were suspicious or at least strange. I also saw a lot of offers of selling Paxful accounts, which proves that people trade there 'trust rates'. In my opinion definitely much safer is LocalBitcoins.

I have bitter experience with LBC because i got my skrill account blocked for selling my bitcoin for skrill to a guy with low trading volume. I have no experience with paxful but i think they are similar to localbitcoins which is not quite popular like LB.

Actually you like any thing in this world for virtually or practically , You will like and hate according to your needs and recruitments .
Here I heard about 10-20 times about the paxful . Since the most of the time I heard about the paxful to make trade but  once I jeared about this exchange that here security of escrow is low powerful and can be result into scam by ripper ( since no one my firnd got scam.or any loss ) .
But I regularly using LBC , I found LBC at very first in the internet for making deals with bitcoin for your local fiat and also I found LBC provide best customer supports service which is making it more useful than any other  exchange .

Wouldn't that also stand true for LBC? It's not like the buyers and sellers (mostly sellers) don't have to adhere to federal law / KYC laws relating to currency exchange, I would think it wouldn't matter what exchange you're on when it comes to this.

I heard the whole Paxful CEO being arrested was a hoax too, don't remember where I saw it though.

I have never used paxful but I have already use more than five times last year localbitcoins.com. I usually use the option national bank transfer and not only I had never face any problem but my transaction ends after  20-30 minutes at most. Once I used person to person but again my transaction was fine.

Never used paxful, but definitely agree the UX is better the LBC. But LBC has way more users so it's a lot easier to find offers.

Paxful is good but I prefere localbitcoins. I have my trusted trader there who I always make the business with.On localbitcoins you can find your local traders so you can buy or sell Bitcoins in your local currency and it's easy to transfer money to or from bank account if you wish so. You can also settle face to face trade. There is variety of deals and offers you can choose.

When it comes to selling and buying bitcoin I would prefer using localbitcoin, since it has many trust worthies who have been in the selling bitcoin business for a really long time and have made many deals, so the chances of getting scammed is little since they also have an escrow which does not coast that much, so I really recommend it.

Honestly I have not used paxful yet. I read many positive reviews on them, but when I am really finding comfortable dealing through localbitcoins what would be the need for me to switch over or test a relatively new services.

I'm not quite familiar in Paxful, but LBC has a ton of people who patronizing their sites in short its a big company all around the world. Maybe in my understanding most people said here in bitcoin forum localbitcoins is much more trusted than anyone else in the world, this is what most often recommend here by the community in bitcoin world.

Definitely prefere localbitcoins over paxful atleast for now. Simply for the reason that lbtc has been established for a long time, and as a seller I don't trust holding large amounts of btc on paxful over long term. Maybe in the future that would change. But lbtc has everything that I need as of now.

Localbitcoins is mostly useful for trade in choosen country but to my mind that doesn't matter, they are good. I would choose paxful for small amount of bitcoins but I would choose localbitcoins for really big deals. Localbitcoins is mostly known and trustable as I know and heared on this forum, also their automated escrows are really good.

I buy Bitcoins and trade on Paxful.

They have Escrow and 24/7 support & Moderators.

They have guides on how to navigate their site.

No its not customer support its about the trust factor they have got. LBC has been online since long time and the users are strictly verified before any trade. Moreover, when you do a trade your funds are hold to make sure you do not loose them if anything worse happens with opposite party or dealing party. Further you can meet locally to your partner via contact info that is easily available. And yes they have got bigger base of users than any other platform.

I have had talked to LBC CS a couple of times lately and they took 2-3 days to reply.

Now I am patient gal, but when I get locked out of 11 BTC, I got paranoid, and that 2-3 days
didn't help.

I always leave a service that has a poor User Support because IMO
The presence of authority deters criminal activity and reduces chaotic outcomes, even online.
And I'm not talking about the fuzz.

It's been 3 weeks now and I think it's time to say I officially left LBC for Paxful.

No - Sellers are protecting themselves from fraud/chargeback etc.

I would choose localbitcoins because I have more experience with it and only positive one. Paxful is also legit and trustworthy as far as I know, although some users had certain issues.
Localbitcoins is the first choice for me because it's very convenient to use, you can find the trader from your own country or even your own town, trade in your own currency. And they are present on the market for a long time and are well regulated with good customer support.

I can honestly say that I think I've only heard Paxful in the same sentence as 'scam' but obviously that's users, not the platform. I'm not sure there's any presence where I'm at. Localbitcoins all the way for me.

Totally.LocalBitcoins for me all the way! Been using them for a few years now without any hassle.However,today after ages I checked my login stats and recently there have been a few failed login attempts from the ip addresses which I don't use (Russia and Indonesia specifically).I thought of activating 2fa but again I don't store any coins on an exchange whatever the case so no problem at all.Login Guard helps in most of these brute forcing cases.

I've used paxful a total of 2 times. Once I was sent a stolen credit card as payment and the scammer marked payment complete. Obviously I disputed and requested for him to cancel. The second time, I was in need of BTC for my paypal in a rush and I was charged a 20% premium. After that, I stuck to localbitcoins.

Paxful deals more in the gift card scene meaning that the users on there are a lot more scammy for sure.

I don't get why people would use paxful over localbitcoins... There is obviously more listings on localbitcoins, and I'd say Localbitcoins probably is a lot more trusted than paxful. There's less scammers on LBC, the rates are better, less complaints... Benefits are really endless for me, personally. If you're dealing in the business of buying gift cards and you know the risks, then maybe paxful would be better for you since you are able to get GCs for cheap(which can often be fraudulent, which is why I'm saying if you know the risks and know how to manage it). That's the only scenario I would think paxful is advantageous, however.

I have account on both platforms but would still take Paxful ahead of LBC just because of the amount of scam actions that have been reported on LBC severally without any room for people to have a refund of their resources. I have read several news even on the forum about how funds were lost and the admin on LBC were not even cooperating on resolving the issue with all of their promises. On Paxful, on the otherside, I have used the platform several times without stress confirmation is instant, responsive customer care, and I am yet to read one bad news from the use of that platform.

For me, I don't like Paxful as much as Localbitcoins. It's nothing against their platform, I haven't heard of any untrustworthy business dealings that were conducted by them. It's about the quality of the traders there, and compared to Localbitcoins it's just inferior.

The risk of trading on Paxful is just too great. If you are buying bitcoin, you're going to be charged a ton of mark up. If you are selling bitcoin, you have an extremely high risk of dealing with someone fraudulent.

Localbitcoins generally has a lot more trustworthy traders, and rates are better as well for bank transfer etc. and has more volume.

I was one among the user of localbitcoins.com who lost small amount of bitcoin through the frauds roaming around. Even after that I continue using localbitcoins, because it is the best trading platform available at present. To get rid of scammers we need to be more cautious.
