Use your bitcoins to get food delivery and takeout from all 12,087 Foodler restaurants.
Can you believe that? Doesn't it sound amazing?

Here are the places in the U.S.A where it is possible to buy food:

In case it wasn't clear I was only commenting on the non-factual title of the article. That other site was probably in the news a year ago, and I am not affiliated with them and there is no current press about them that I am aware of.

Anyone ever claiming that something is the first either needs to check through the history of the world or risk probably being wrong.

This is actually pretty big news if you think about it; Before today it was nearly impossible to live a healthy life using Bitcoin alone to pay for everything.

I had to even blog about it: Foodler Now Accepts Bitcoin - Bitcoinfinger (http://bitcoinfinger.wordpress.com/2013/04/18/foodler-now-accepts-bitcoin)

I guess people in St.Louis could have done so before, but now it's most of the nation. Awesome.

Anyone here tried it?

Poked around and set up an account. The "Pay Now With Bitcoin" button is there -- but for some reason it didn't work for me. I sent them a note about it, might be just some implementation kinks they have to iron out.

It would be pretty cool to buy restaurant food with bitcoin - the higher the BTC price goes, the less bitcoins I spend! I'm sure at even these levels you could feed yourself pretty well with 1 BTC. (~$93.00 as of this post.)

One hell of a way to fight food inflation :)

You have to fund foodlerbucks to your account with bitcoin. It went smoothly for me  :)

Pics are important. The media loves pics of food bought with bitcoins. Me too!

Okay, I'm using Firefox 20.0.1 (also tried it in Chrome) and it didn't work. Hmm.... maybe I was logged into a server that handles a specific region and it was wonky? Don't know...

Glad it worked for you though.

They wrote back saying they had some issues - probably with the exchange API they rely on to keep the price updated. The bitcoin button now works and I'm waiting on the confirms to fund my account.

Great customer service, they got back to me in less than a business day about it.

WTF?  They display moving flies on the page?

Weird idea for a food-related website  :-\

That's odd - I just checked and they don't have anything like that on their page. Where did you see that?

I searched based on the number displayed -- that isn't foodler, its this site:

Just so people know - you made a mistake man, wrong site.

Yeh I eventually undestood.  I guess there is a script that checks how much time it would take for the food to arrive.  I'm currently in the middle of the Indian ocean, so I understand it would take some time to ship from America :)

Got a chance to use the service - it performed as advertised, you get the opportunity to leave a tip for the driver in their order form, so no need to have spare < sovereign currency > lying around - which is excellent.

This is going to change the variety of my meals, for sure - and allows a chance to try different things out just using bitcoin.

I actually have flies about that size walking on my screen most of the time, but then I noticed they weren't behaving right. I thought it was a weird choice too.
