Title: Why I think PPCoin will be next on mtgox
Post by: mr_random on April 17, 2013, 08:29:07 PM
A person tweets magic tux, the programmer at mtgox asking '@MagicalTux Why add only Litecoin? PPCoin is a very interesting alternative crypto-currency incorporating Proof of stake'

I think ppcoin is too young yet for mtgox, they'll probably will add it in the future but not now

...of course I can be completely wrong

I made the logical step of buying up 8 BTC worth of PPCoins when I heard Mtgox Litecoin rumors - even before PPCoin started trading on BTC-e. Now my 8 BTC is 22 BTC just on PPCoin's growth alone. <feelsgoodman.jpg>

It's quite simple logic really - PPCoin is the only alt coin that is really different - PoW+PoS, that is. It's also early enough to get into it to be called an early adopter. Exchange rate is still so low that just about any growth of PPCoin will make investors profit handsomely. So, low buy-in, potentially high payoff, seems like a win-win to me.

And I'm not just another greedy speculator. I'm working on an app which will work with alt cryptocurrencies LTC and PPC as well as the good old BTC.

I start to think that investment in LTC and PPC will be a pretty good investment. Regarding LTC only the fact the you have to wait 2 minutes for the transaction and that people consider bitcoin as gold and litecoin as silver could be enough to make it worth a lot in 5-6 years.
PPC has enormous risk reward ratio and if it gets to mtgox it can be pretty good investment.

LTC is a successful pump but I don't see the value in it and then there is a simple risk of a big slip as BTC becomes real world useful or as PPC becomes seen as a real hedge against BTC. Why would a merchant want to bother with LTC when they can just accept BTC? What functional advantage does LTC have - novelty value aside?

Faster confirmation and better suited for micropayments because there's a bit more totalLTC than BTC.

That said the timing of these posts are just to try and pump PPC and LTC. The alt-coin market has been greatly diminished by the rise in difficulty in mining, the pump and dumps, and the pump and dump scam coins.

PPC is 6 months to a year away from being put on Gox.  LTC probably wont make it on Gox until July or August at the earliest. By the time PPC is being discussed to be put on Gox it will have to compete with Netcoin which is hybrid POW/POS and I don't see PPC having an easy time winning that competition.

When Netcoin is released it's going to smash all release records for any coin. It's probably going to be over $1 in value the day it's released and will probably stay there because the initial investors will be long term investors. It's going to be a pump and dump proof coin.

The key to the long term viability of any digital currency is acceptance from merchants. Obviously bitcoin leads the pack in this regard. Litecoin, PPcoin and Feathercoin will continue to lag behind until they can improve there standing with merchants.

Netcoin had done a tremendous job building up to its release. If it could get some merchants lined up in advance it would be an absolute winner. I currently accept bitcoin, litecoin and ppcoin at DirectVoltage.com (http://DirectVoltage.com) and plan to accept netcoin from the get go
