Title: Question about LocalBitcoins escrow
Post by: j_gillard on April 17, 2013, 08:42:43 PM
I use LocalBitcoins regularly as a seller and I've just had a potential buyer come up to me and ask what happens if the seller receives the fiat payment but pretends it never arrives and doesn't release the Bitcoins. I would assume that the buyer could provide the site proof that they sent the money to the details stated by the seller? Would love it if someone could weigh in

Correct, the seller has their coins frozen so if the buyer can prove payment has been sent correctly, the coins can be sent to the buyer and the seller would most likely be punished.

So it would be a slight hassle for the buyer waiting for their money back but they wouldn't lose out, that's what I thought, thanks!

Yep, they don't need to lose out at all.

I'm going to try LocalBitcoins.  Don't use Aurumxchange whatever you do.  They stole almost $1000 from me this morning and now they won't respond to my messages.  They keep marking my support tickets as "resolved" but it's not resolved because I'm out $1000 that Roberto says never existed.   He's not even responding anymore I'm afraid my money is gone...

I use Localbitcoins, but haven't had the chance to do their escrow. Most of my trades have been good.

I'm a fully satisfied user of Localbitcoins!

The escrow service works a treat, and the website works nicely on a smartphone - so its very easy to show cash customers you releasing the coins into their wallets.

It just gives everyone confidence that the job is done correctly!

Now if only bank transfers to OKPay were as quick and smooth?!
