Title: [2017-02-15] Openbazaar Integrates Tor – The Platform’s Most Requested Feature
Post by: TwoTimes on February 16, 2017, 12:03:09 AM
The decentralized marketplace Openbazaar has been continuously building its platform since inception. Now the Bitcoin-powered marketplace has finally merged Tor integration into the Openbazaar platform adding a long-awaited layer of privacy to the program.

On February 14 the Openbazaar team showed the Bitcoin community some love by revealing the code for Tor integration was ready. Members of the community seemed thrilled as many of them exclaimed that Darknet Markets can now be created from home. One Redditor writes, “Bring on the illegal commerce”, while others were not so sure they wanted illicit activity coming to the network.

Relying solely on Tor is extremely inadvisable.  It is a great step, but hopefully they'll keep stepping up the game.

Illegal commerce is always good for Bitcoin's economy. One thing Bitcoiners shouldn't forget is its roots. Remember the Libertarians? Well there you have it, a platform where we can use a decentralized currency and a place where we can buy, sell and operate outside the law.

How can this be good for Bitcoin? We cannot stop these idiots to use Bitcoin for illegal commerce, but we should not encourage them either! Tor is riddled with 3letter agencies hosting Tor nodes and exit nodes to monitor and gather information on illegal activity and for me they are the ultimate honey trap.

If you think Tor will hide illegal activities, you have been deceived. Nothing is private anymore and we should know that.

Tor is indeed no longer the illegal safe haven, but people still don't seem to realize that. Same basically goes up for people fully putting all their trust into the "anonymous" nature of Bitcoin to hide their activities. Especially when it comes to dealers just having made their entrance in the Bitcoin world. They sell their stuff for Bitcoin through whatever deep web market, and then cash it out via the exchange they verified themselves at. How stupid can someone be... Other than that, Tor integration will not do anything for OpenBazaar when it comes to gaining popularity among the regular people.

The regular people will not be able to track you down without some pretty impressive skills.  ;D Yes, these agencies might track you down through

Tor, but if you not doing anything illegal then you do not have to worry about them. I think most people still think Tor is anonymous and they

might access some of these dark markets and then get busted for doing it. Snowden has shown us how effective these agencies are, even if you

using Tor.  ::)
