Profitable is a very relative term, there are many who will profit much from ripple as there are many who did not profit at all from BitCoin...

Why would it need to profitable? for that matter - why should bitcoin be profitable? The whole idea is to replace government fiat, not to be a high risk venture so people will buy BTC and change them back to USD as soon as the price shoots. As I see it, the end goal is to have a bitcoin economy independent of any currencies.

Bitstamp sell ripples for BTC.

Bitstamp sells Ripples on their website (for USD, not BTC).  They are out of stock most of the time but they usually sell for .0044 dollars each...or .44 of a cent.

Anyone willing to help a newcomer getting into the ripple-thing started? I'm pretty excited about the system of XRP.
