Would that require me to re-download the whole blockchain (120+ Gbs)? I'm trying to avoid that. If that's the case, I'd just setup a new computer and import the wallet.dat. If that's the case, I'd just setup a new computer and import the wallet.dat. no, the solution i told you about will let you download the last 50k blocks instead of downloading the full blockchain, which is actually around 200GB. Go to bitcoin.conf and add : Code: prune = x (where x is the number of last blocks you want to download) You can finde more options here : https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Running_Bitcoin Title: Re: Need to upgrade old client Post by: AtomicProject on February 20, 2017, 05:14:44 PM just keel wallet.dat file in a usb and upgrade your system than replace old wallet.dat file to new wallet.dat file after installation of bitcoin core in new upgraded system

It syncs up now, but I don't think its on the correct chain or something. I can't transact from it. If there is risk here, I might be more inclined to just rebuild the wallet on a new computer - but I'd have to DL the whole chain again. Is Bitcoin 13 the client for Ubuntu? Title: Re: Need to upgrade old client Post by: nemgun on February 20, 2017, 05:30:28 PM You can try to figure the date and adjust the number of blocks according to the first transaction issued. You could save a lot of DiscSpace.
bitcoin 0.13.x is the latest bitcoin version, here is the download link provided by bitcointalk : https://bitcoin.org/en/download If you want you can redownload the blockchain in a computer with more disk space, and then you can just send your wallet.dat to this new daemon/wallet, regardless if it is Mac, Win, Ubuntu, wallet.dat is an encrypted file, so it doesn't matter what OS is using it.
