Title: Does anybody know who's sending these transactions?
Post by: testerx on February 20, 2017, 09:27:16 PM
One of my old wallets that I haven't used in a long time randomly got sent a tiny amount of bitcoin, and when I looked at the address that sent it, I noticed they made a ton of similar transactions->all for tiny amounts of bitcoin.  We're talking transactions so small that the fee would be like 20%.

I thought maybe some account I had a long time ago swept some dust off to clear their records but I looked through all my old accounts and for the life of me can't figure out who's sending these out.  Anybody know where this money is coming from?!  My accountant keeps an eye on my old wallet addresses to see if there's any new activity or I wouldn't even have noticed.

Really bizarre.

There used to be some sites which use transactions to advertise on the blockchain. However, that doesn't seem to be the case over here. There seems to be no message attached to the transaction.

Did you purchase any "cloud mining" contracts?  Following the chain of payments, one of the addresses which received a relatively large portion of the coins was bitknock.com - recognize the name?

Might be a mixer service sending tiny amounts to random addresses to muddy the trail, aka money laundering

may be you had subscribed to some services like cloud mining or faucet or could be the reason the someone had pasted your btc address instead of his own (May be due to mistake). well how lucky you are

Two possibilities come to mind. 1. you get paid for some services you once registered, like faucets. 2. Someone took your address and is using it for example to cover up something. It is free money, so relax and just watch.

Whenever an arab gets a hot looking girlfriend, they have to put her in their bio picture to let everyone know they are getting laid with some quality.  It comes off as cheezy.  This dumb fuck has a hot girlfriend and a fake Italian name so he really looks particularly greasy.

It looks like you are getting automatic payout from some service which could be cloud mining, faucet wallets (ref commsion), a-ads like bitcoin ad network which doesn't need manual withdrawal request.

Well, it is mostly like that, because there is a lot of people who are always making mistakes on sending bitcoin to someone, just a simply typo will make your bitcoin fade away and will appear on someone's bitcoin wallet, also, it might a FAUCET that you have been doing before and is auto-withdrawing the money directly to your bitcoin wallet address, especially if you have many referrals, you could earn even though you already stop doing FAUCETS.

You don't have to worry OP about the bitcoin that is anonymously sending by anyone or just from external account, unless the bitcoin in you wallet will start vanishing or decreasing everyday in no reason, this time, you should worry because it is not normal. Just be thankful that you are receiving bitcoin in your wallet, that is a grace from above. :)

The people saying faucets, should consider that most faucets have a weekly pay-out at the end of the week. I think you signed up for some service

that pays out dust for referrals and you simply forgot about it.  ;) .... I do not re-use Bitcoin addressees for different services... I use a new

address for every new service I sign up for.  ;)

Those transactions might be getting sent by a service that works out which Bitcoin addresses belong to which wallets. There is a reddit thread discussing such privacy attacks using dust.

Companies and websites like those linked below use taint analysis to identify groups of addresses belonging to the same wallet. Those same companies might also use dust transactions for further wallet analysis.
