Title: Audio books?
Post by: JimmiesForBitcoins on April 18, 2013, 05:54:58 PM
How do y'all feel about audio books? Are there any books that you wish had an audio version, but don't?

Edit: Are there any books which you wish had an audio book version?

I've never attempted to listen to one before.  It might help me out tho, as I have to speak while reading anyway, or else my mind floats away into some random BS and five pages later I have no idea what's happening in the story.

Love 'em. Great for when you can't spare the use of your hands to turn a page. Like driving. Or in my case, elbow-deep in dishes.

Here's a great site, lets you read at whatever pace you want.
http://podiobooks.com/

Strongly suggest this series:

It's awesome.

I'm an audio book fanatic myself, since I'm primarily an auditory learner.

I'm more looking for books that I could use for audio projects, seeing as I do narration and voice over. Public domain or books that the copyright holders wouldn't care if I made an audio version of. I could just pick books at random, but I'd rather do books that people are actually interested in.

There is a fantastic one of "I am Legend", outside of that they all seem half worked and unpracticed as far as I've seen.

Do you read out loud, or talk about something completely different to someone else/yourself?

I read out loud to stay on track; if I'm not talking, I start thinking about something else, or I'll be inspired by what I read and put the book down after just a few paragraphs :P
