You need to enter the pass when you send a tx as far as I know. It might be that I am using the old version, so feel free to correct me.

To enable a password, go to Wallet>Password and you will be able to set the password there.

This can protect you against physical attacks but not cyber ones. For example, one can still easily steal your Bitcoins if they have a keylogger installed on your computer. Keep in mind that your seeds are not cannot be password protected*.

Keep in mind that your seeds are not password protected.

Within Electrum, the seeds are indeed password protected. Attempting to click Wallet -> Seed will ask you for your password.

Of course your seed isn't physically protected if you write it down, but it is protected within Electrum if you use a password.

Confirming - SEED is totally encrypted if a password is used.  I wanted to add that you might want to consider using MPK (master public key) for your wallet and removing the wallet with the SEED on it.  Using a watching only (MPK) based wallet you can view all transactions but no coins can be sent from it.  You would simply use a second offline wallet to sign any coin transactions where you want to send coins.  Watching only does not affect receiving coins in any way.  Electrum is great software but if your computer gets compromised a "bad guy" can get your password, and if they do, they can get your SEED and from there they own the coins!

but if we an enable the log in password with a different one ( not same the seed, private key, send password ), maybe better

I don't think 2 passwords really provides any more protection than a single strong password would. If an attacker can get access to one of your passwords, they can likely get access to a 2nd one as well.

If you are really concerned about the security of your wallet, I'd recommend that you invest in a hardware wallet which can be used with Electrum which helps protect your funds even if you PC is compromised.

I am working on a wallet encryption feature, that will require the password to open the wallet.
This might be added to version 2.8

I would love to see this feature, especially if it also works on "watching wallets", which it probably will.

goldenpay,

Are all the comments above regarding the dangers of getting malware on your computer sinking in?  Even if Thomas writes a super encryption scheme into his wallets, the fact still remains that an infected computer will betray you.  If you are skilled with security, using Linux, etc.... then OK.  I am all those things and I still would only use a hardware wallet being monitored via Electrum, OR use a hot and cold wallet approach with Electrum.
