Title: The White House bars several news organisations from briefing

Steve bannon - the press is the opposition and 'should keep its mouth shut'.

Trump tweet - the press is 'the enemy of the people'.

This is a rather uncool move. I wonder when everybody who isn't a Breitbart zombie starts to wonder what's been unleashed.

They did the right thing. The mainstream media is behaving in a shamelessly biased manner and spreading rumors and falsehood against Trump and his administration. These guys need to be taught a lesson.

The media and the White House cannot be trusted.

The fact that Trump makes such accusations, without specific fact indicating that the media has misrepresented facts, proves that the White House cannot be trusted. Trump will say anything to get people to believe him, much like the media.

I don't have a problem with Trump selecting new or less mainstream media outlets greater access to the questioning and the White House. The mainstream media needs to know they can't get away with everything...there needs to be consequences. And there needs to be consequences for the White House, part of that his the public lashing Trump gets when he says ridiculous shit on a weekly basis.

The only people winning in America right now are the comedians, material for years.

I think this is unprecedented in American history, as President Trump intensifies
his attack on media. But I think this love-hate relationship with media will not
last as they needed each other  :)

White House: the Press is 'the enemy of the people'.
Media: “Apparently this is how they retaliate when you report facts they don’t like,”

Yeah I agree you with that both the media and the White House cannot be trusted,
however, should both of be promoting access to information and the people has
the right to know what's going on in the government?

Very well done Trump! Those fake news propaganda outlets should be shut down permanently.

Unfortunately gentemand is correct. They've set a precedent for the Communists (aka Democrats) to do the same thing once they are back in power.

At this point, Trump needs to move to dictatorship and kill all the democrats and get it over with. We are headed to that civil war any way. And that is why I am not going back to the USA.

"May we live in interesting times"...

Here's the game: When the media points out the constant stream of contradictory statements coming out of the Presidents office - it is "false" news. Anything the President says (even if it is blatantly false in logic and reasoning) is instantly true. How the Americans put this man is charge is amazing, but they still won't understand why their living standards drop and their long term allies desert them. It is a lot easier for politicians to spread hate, than to change and progress.

In democracy, I mean ''real'' democracy, free media is essential.
Media represent different kind of people and different opinions so they will not support government all the time, it's natural.
Still, real democracy means that we accept opposition and different views on the same issues.
If we can't accept different views, censor media and demand that everybody ''must'' agree with our viewpoint, in my opinion it's not any more democracy but tyranny.
It's seems that Trump wants to brainwash people so that everybody follow only him and accepts only his opinion as right opinion.
Everybody else, who don't think as President, are enemies.
Soon, such people, who dare to think differently from Mr. President, will probably end up in jail.
What is going on with democracy and freedom in America?

And Donald and friends aren't? Good lord.

The media are a bunch of assholes. Donald's team are as well. The difference is that Team Donald doesn't have the balls to back up the balls they spout. A robust and level headed bunch would counter whatever they feel are falsehoods. What this lot are doing are blustering and threatening and sticking their fingers in their eyes and shouting 'la la la la.'

That's not going to wash.

Perhaps you forget about Obama's rants against Fox News.

Not unprecedented:

"The president was wrapping up a news conference with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi in the White House Rose Garden when the scolding came. By arrangement, Mr. Obama and Mr. Renzi had agreed to take only four or five questions from Italian and American journalists who were selected by the leaders’ staff beforehand."

I'd say it was less of a barring and more of a non-invitation given, it wasn't like they told them to come and then held them up at the door or anything along those lines. Wasn't this briefing dring the CPAC event where mostly conservative news sources were talking to Sean Spicer so that's just what occurred.

They did the right thing. The mainstream media is behaving in a shamelessly biased manner and spreading rumors and falsehood against Trump and his administration. These guys need to be taught a lesson.

Disgusting how the media is today, they should be ashamed of themselves on the yellow journalism and false journalism they're portraying to the American people.

(bolded above) They've done that and are continuing to do just that.

So you liberals are suddenly going ballistic for the press freedom, right? Have you forgot the verbal abuse showered on Fox News and Breitbart News Network, for their pro-conservative views? You just can't have it both ways.

Unfortunately people can't always agree among themselves. Something like that is absolutely unacceptable one to others. The press is no exception. Moreover, with the development of the Internet press is not easy times, and likely go bankrupt. So they cling to any earnings. Most often this is a biased article.
