Title: bitcoin stuck
Post by: sitco24 on February 25, 2017, 01:25:49 AM
It's now over 24 hours and my bitcoins have not been confirmed. This has not happened to me before and i am so  upset. I use Multibit HD, any help would be  greatly appreciated.

It would be great if you could provide a link to the transaction, so we can see what happened. My assumption is that with the recent price spike, there have been alot more transactions, therefore driving the average transaction fee up. Multivitamins probably didn't catch that, sending a low fee, resulting in your transaction having an extremely low priority. Don't worry. Within 48-72 hours if your transaction being made, it should either get confirmed or bounce back to your wallet.

It will happen again once if you made a transaction again with very/low fees, 24 hours is better than 3 days of waiting. And you don't need to compare bitcoin to any payment method, because bitcoin is bitcoin not paypal or whatever.

OP has sent me their transaction ID. Yep, it's confirmed.

It was a fee of exactly 0.0001 BTC, which likely makes my assumption true. The regular transaction fee based on the Bitcoin philosophy should be 0.0001, so it's fine. Multibit evidently doesn't include dynamic fees.

Try to use a wallet like Electrum, Greenaddress or BitGo, which include dynamic fees.

Yeah slower than visa and paypal, but it depends on how you look at it.  if i wanted to send my gold to someone it would take a hell of a lot longer than 24 hours and would cost way more than $0.50, its perspective...

is bitcoin competing with visa/paypal or is it competing with gold....?  i think the market has spoke.  things my change when LN comes out and bitcoin may compete with both, then it will really be amazing  ;)
