Title: Carefull with VirWox
Post by: masize on April 19, 2013, 06:48:39 AM
Hello, I've been buying BTC from VirWox for about 12 days. I got my account leveled up and could buy more BTC each day.
Until I got my account suspended, for no reason. I knew this could happen as I heard before, they don't like people to buy just BTC, but once you get contact them, they'll restore your account.
Not my case, they said they'll refund the money. I said I'll report them as SCAM as this is unacceptable, I bought BTC at USD 70, now the price is USD 120.

They can do whatever they like with the BTC, I guess if the BTC lowers the price, there's no problem, but if the BTC price rises, they'll keep the BTC and sell them by themselves to make the profit. There's no problem sir, we'll refund like nothing ever happened.

Just curious... I had like 7 Bitcoins that I purchased through Virwox back in 2011. I tried to login the other day with the username and password I had setup and it said my password was valid but had expired. I tried to reset my password and it said it was sending me a reset email but I never get it (I tried this multiple times). I then emailed support@virwox.com and my emails keep getting the email bounced back saying "undeliverable" (I also tried this multiple times!).

How did you ultimately reach these people? I would not trust them or do business with them ever again, but I would surely like to get my $1000.00 worth of Bitcoins back!

Thanks for any info you can provide!

If you would like you can respond to me privately you can reach me at protech@probill.com

Have a great day,

John

Actually, they did answered me by contacting them to this address support@virwox.com
They have a delay of no more than 24hs to respond.
I got a refund for the credit card. I don't think they'll just steal your coins, when I mean scammers, I mean they keep your BTC when they worth more than you paid them and make a refund to your credit card.

I m sorry guys but you all are such newb-pussies.

Virwox is good I have bought a LOT of coins during the crash from them & withdrew them successfully.

They will hold your FIRST withdrawals of btc for 48-72 hours.

Their customer support is super responsive and very helpful.

So far I have not been scammed or wronged by them.

I got my coins stolen, and my money refunded. I bought them at a much cheaper price.
Your experience VS tons.

I've did some work with them as they were my only option to buy my first bitcoins due to day Payapl funding option, it's bloody expensive to buy there though, they are at least 10$ above gox usually and their fees are enormous.

I've got a Level 4 account with Virwox that I've been using for close to a year just buying BTC using Paypal and Credit Card and I have never had a single problem with them. What was their response about your account suspension?

Why did they cost you $100? They tell you right on their website that they have a 48 hour rule for new accounts.

They didn't tell me right on their website.  Maybe it is in the fine print somewhere but that doesn't help you when you are setting up and account and trying to use it.  They sound like scammers from what others here have said and I agree.  Or maybe not scamming but just poor service.

They have quick response, but no explanation whatsoever :

Quote
Hello,

unfortunately your account activity has shown high risk indications. We have therefore refunded your payment and closed the account.

Greetings,

VirWoX Support

Hey, how long did that take? When I go to the websites page on account levels, level 3 is 90 days and level 4 is on request. So, how do you ask nicely to be level 4? Or how long do you wait?

Today my account also got closed!
Hello,
unfortunately we have received high risk indications for your account from our credit card processor (Skrill). We have therefore refunded your payment and closed the account.
It can take up to 7 days until you see the refund back on the card or bank account.
Greetings,
VirWoX Support

When telling them i got no info from skrill and i am a long year customer even from moneybookers before it transformed... and that we talk about 60€ transfered with online banking and tan system!... the reply was:

Hello,
sorry, we don't know how they came to their conclusion.
Greetings,
VirWoX Support

Not willing to give even a good word or anything, just telling me this... i can not belive this! and you know what is going on with the btc price at the moment...
So i can only give you right that they are not doing well and treat customers like bugs....
While in other platforms you get rewarded for making more and more transactions, this supplier seems to not want to make some customers even a first transaction???
I am for sure no high risk indication... :) believe me please! I used skrill and moneybookers to transfer mayer 500-600€ in a period of 5-6 years. there is not much going on there...

They are the only ones I know of that still (after years!) take Credit Card and PayPal as well as other payment forms in exchange for BTC.

While you might be a false positive on their scammer detection system, I am quite sure they have to constantly deal with scammers, so your tragic story is not likely going to move them.

Just use an exchange with cheaper fees (nearly any other on the market really)...

Yes, I too just had my account disabled today. The same story that was told here: high risk blah blah blah. This was about my 10th or so transaction from them too, so I didn't just open up an account yesterday...

When I asked for an explanation, they never responded back. Up until today, I was promoting them to people not wanting to have to wait for a SEPA payment to clear etc, being that they do accept PayPal and credit cards, but after this blatant display of unprofessionalism, I'm left speechless.

Anyhow, I think it's important to get the word out there that they have changed their tune.

Best,
-L

Hi ,
I registred here just to confirm , I had the same experience as described in here , the first day I bought 78 dollars , the same thing happened the day after.
on the third day , my account was diseabled, and It said I should contact the support team , which I did. and I got an answer the same day :

"unfortunately we have received high risk indications for your account. We have therefore refunded your payment and closed the account."

then I emailed back , asking for what kind of risks is it and the fact that I have money in there , and I withdrawed some of it ( knowing that the price of the coins went up from 2 days before to now) , they never responded back , and they send me a refund of the original amounts , without taking into consideration the actual value of my coins at that time.

regards,

It works, for sure, I have gotten my bitcoin in a few hours after withdrawing (except for the first time which took like 2-3 days for verification), but the transaction fee is remarkably high compared to other services.

Old thread. I sucessfuly cashed out some ebayvearning of three acounts 1 time each max deposit. I believe it was 90 for top level usd. Next day tried again all three accoints disabled. But hell still converted 270 bucks for typing buttons. Dropshipping is nice i like lol

For real tho do you think buying sll and trading it around the currency pairs would make them not ban you? Juat do a quick back and forth a few times a day. What do you think? Sounds like it would work. Might even make more seeing how there a so many aproaching 40 divorced tards that still live in second life

Honestly, if it was like the guy above who commented that his account was closed and his money refunded, you don't really have any grounds to call them a scam. It would be a scam if they took your money outright without a valid reason why, but if you got the money back, how exactly are they a "scam?"

ITT: people with Junior account level or below bitching about virwox while senior members vouch for virwox.

I have been using Virwox for like 5 years and have never had a problem with them.

Seeing as how it is all newbie accounts complaining, I'm going to say your full of FUD.
