Title: Compact/Sleek Automatic Computer Resetter/Watchdog Function for 24/7 Mining
Post by: pikachuy on March 01, 2017, 02:34:57 AM
Not to hate on the SimpleRigResetter, but I found this other product here that helps me:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-PC-Watchdog-Computer-Reboot-Board-/132082381678

I didn't want wires hanging from all the rigs to the SimpleRigResetter switch and wanted a more flush/compact way of the rig to automatically hard reset if anything happens to the computer (even BSOD and frozen computers).

To me, this seems more beneficial for my set up because it just plugs in the USB header and stays flush with the motherboard so there won't be anything dangling around. It is compatible with any motherboard that has a USB header. This should also help people who have their mining rigs at a remote location or data-center and can't have other wires dangling around across multiple rigs.

Advice: (Change your BIOS to always power on computer after a power-loss, and add this device, and add your mining program to automatically startup when computer boots, and it should help you maintain your rigs 24/7 uptime stress free).

Thought I share my finding. Hope this help others.

looks like it could be worth trying

I may have 2 or 3 locations

one with a lot of miners and 2 with a few miners  this could work for me  thanks

Pretty nice if you have only a rig or 2 and don't need the higher scale SRR.

You cant manually reset your rigs with this, which means you can do nothing about a hanged miner. Easy Remote management is the prime lure of the SRR. But still, if something like this was 10$, even 15$ shipped, I would seriously consider it.

I use claymore, which should auto-restart with it's own watchdog feature for hanged miners, but for remote management, I use teamviewer, which solves the same thing for manual access. The main benefit for this device is it solves stuff that I can't do over teamviewer.

This sounds very interesting.  I have one box that hangs frequently and the SRR is overkill for my environment.  Thanks for sharing the info.
