Title: BTC iPod/iPhone App?
Post by: Haole on April 19, 2013, 08:37:58 PM
Can some of you please give your recommendations and or suggestions as to the best (easiest to use) app needed simply for mobile wallet purposes and basic transactions?

Thanks and regards.

Jailbreak that is only way to get a wallet.

I need it specifically for an iPod Touch, does this require jailbreaking too?  I know nothing about this stuff so thanks.  Don't like the idea of web-based wallets.

The blockchain.info app for iPhone is your only choice (non-jailbreak). There used to be a full node app, but Apple took it away.

I believe a copy of your money is stored both on the device and on the web, but, nobody has an unencrypted copy, not even on your phone. It's as secure as you're gonna get. They offer two-factor authentication for their web site too. It's not security perfection, but, it's good enough for me. I've used blockchain.infomon and off for a while. I've trusted them with 100-200 bitcoins or so with no issues.

I recommend blockchain.info too. It's ugly, but useful and so far was quite safe. And it has nice features like automatic backup by email and SMS notifications. I wouldn't recommend keeping significant amount there, but as an everyday wallet it's pretty good.
