That's sweet! I see the errors you mentioned in the bladeforums post, but I think that just gives it "personality".

How many hours do you have into it?

Do you think it would take a beating (as say... a bushcraft knife)?

it SHOULD survive a beating, though i can't really guarantee it. the heat treat wasn't anywhere close to precise, ya know? if i were less afraid of destroying it, i'd test it some, but... yea. my nerves couldn't take that.

hours, probably something like 15 or 20?

i can get it hair shaving sharp, but since i only have a dremel it's a very uneven, ugly looking edge.

i think the biggest bushcraft concern would be rust. it's 1080 steel, high carbon and not much else, so it'll be susceptible to rust.

Nice blade mate! I always wanted to craft some. Did you use a beltsander for shaping it or only hands tools?

no belt sander, don't have one. mostly my dremel rotarty tool, but the details and shiny finish were hand tools.

what country would i be shipping to? i'd need to check rules. don't think it would be a problem though.

i'd like $250 USD, so about .2 btc. plus shipping, depending.

Nothing a good sharpener won't fix.

I mean, the blade looks nice and thick from the pics, so I'm sure it could survive a beating (stuff like hitting it with a piece of wood to split another piece of wood), as long as the handle is up to it. Rust is only a concern if it's neglected! ;)

1/8th inch thick, yea. and the handle is held on with the pins and loctite 5 minute epoxy. it should hold up to whatever just fine. i'm just afraid to try it!

and yea, i need a good sharpener... first thing i'll buy when i get some money.

Sounds rugged indeed.

i'm just afraid to try it!

While I do like collecting knives, ultimately they are tools for me! Of course, I would say it's up to whoever purchases your knife to be the one to "break it in" (unless you planned on making a "run" of them in which case it would be cool to show off it's durability).

I need one myself. The one I want is pricey though!

that... is one hell of a sharpener.

and i'll probably make more like this one eventually, but i need some tools to assure better repeatability and consistency first.

i agree, tools. meant to be used. if i wasn't so broke and therefore kinda really needing the money from selling it, i'd have bought enough steel to make two, and test one to destruction.

maybe next time.

hopefully, making a living by selling! :D

i didn't have a particular use in mind here, just kinda let the pencil do what it wanted.

Looks bad ass. How much does it cost? How long did it take you to make it?

asking for $250 USD, but negotiable.

better part of two months, but hours wise, something like 15, maybe 20? not really sure.

would have been a lot faster with better tools. a dremel can DO the work, but it's not fast at cutting and grinding steel.

did you make this all by yourself? it looks fantastic, are you selling these? you'd make a good buck for them

Excellent knives! I have a small collection of famous brand knives. I dream of buying a Japanese knife Rockstead. But it is a pity that in my country there is a ban on the storage of bladed weapons
