Title: MSI RX 480 Gaming LED turn off
Post by: mokrejbandita on March 01, 2017, 06:02:48 PM
Hello, I just want to ask if there is any way to turn off that red led and that MSI logo? I know its doable by some MSI gaming app but that program make other programs fall (msi afterburner, wattman, etc).
Thanks for any advices, I was googling for answer whole day but nothing.

I would also like to know this - for MSI 390 or basically any AMD card

I thought it wasn't possible short of cutting wires

Do you mean you can't install gaming app because it makes other programs dies? Sure gaming app can turn those off, but don't get how it's crashing in your machine.

Well the msi gamming app takes about 15% cpu and 20% memory load when running on background. Second thing is, that when i run it, it delete the memory and core clock I setup in afterburner, and afterburner shows me 0 clock on both values. Sometimes the afterburner quits and I get error that program has stooped working.
Everything is ok, when I uninstal the gaming app. But if i uninstall it, or kill the app, leds turn on again.

I am not that much concerned about the leds, I just worry it takes some watts and It lures thiefs at night as far as I have the rig in garage with windows open. :D

As for watts drawn by the leds don't worry about that it's in mwatts so forget it, but for the thiefs i am not sure :) , you have to be cautious about that, and you need to run the gaming app in background thats right , maybe you can unplug the leds jacks from the gpu pcb but thats really need to know what are you doing.
