Title: bitcoin ETF announcement March 11 what do you expect?
Post by: ggbitcoin000 on March 01, 2017, 07:27:25 PM
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-02-21/you-can-bet-on-whether-the-sec-approves-the-first-bitcoin-etf

Is it likely to be approved or not approved? If approved will it spike? By how much?

It has a slim chance of getting approved 35% but if it does gets approved it will sure skyrocket the prices again, thus time it will really pump high.

don't forget there's two more after this one. if the winklevoss one gets a no, maybe the other applications will learn something and add it to theirs.

the gbtc one is based on something that's successfully existed for a few years. that's a strong possibility too.

To my mind it's likely to be approved because also two days ago atf said in their news that an innovative marriage that promises to combine two unique “fintech” concepts—the ETF and the peer-to-peer digital currency bitcoin—looks like it’s finally about to happen. Also after all, ETFs have been revolutionizing investments for 25 years and bitcoin, since its 2009 introduction, has shown potential to completely change financial transactions.
Well, there are great chanses.

I think the SEC will grant the bitcoin ETF a green light.

If they don't do it, another country will.

Strategically it makes sense to be the first on board, it gives them influence to be associated with the first bitcoin ETF in history.

It could also make btc easier to tax in the long run, being that ETF investment will be taxable.

All I can say for what will happen on march 11, 2017. let us entrust in the above what could the result. Just important is let us continue to support bitcoin, continue to patronize it. there are many projection about in bitcoin but we cannot predict anything in this world.

If they don't do it, another country will.

they might be all too happy to let another country screw up. american investors probably won't get any tax breaks on something listed on a foreign exchange so it would make no difference if something similar happened elsewhere.

solidx and gbtc. the solidx one gets a decision on march 30th. i dunno if that's an extendable deadline. they might draw it out for another few years.

I got no idea but i hope that it will get approved.  If Winkelvoss ETF is approved by SEC, we can see a spike in price for another $100+ ( a conservative estmation)  and continously rising as the fund are being poured to the bitcoin economy slowly.  Aside from that there will be another faction which is not involved in this ETF that will dive into Bitcoin economy because of this decision.  Those who are hesitating will be swayed that Bitcoin is really legit.

From what I know there is already ETF in Germany and it's 2 years old:

https://bitcoinblog.de/2015/07/08/germanys-first-bitcoin-etf-launches-today/ (https://bitcoinblog.de/2015/07/08/germanys-first-bitcoin-etf-launches-today/)

I don't see that ETF made any significant impact on bitcoin price, community or whatever. Conclusion: local ETFs have zero influence, only ETF backed by big money is worth something.

A lot of threads that are coming out and curious with the ETF approval. But a few more days to go and well see what will be the result. But there's just one thing that I want to happen, whatever would be the result of it. It's price should keep remain on the $1,200 mark. And many are saying that if it will be approved, the price will increase.

It will probably question is how much. I think it depends on underlying implications. ETF is kind of derivative if I understood correctly. I  wish there is an future/option trading for btc. Well there is but that exchange topped the gain at 80%

Some people are scared about the ETF being a double edged sword because it may pose risk to start fractional banking, and then we would see the same problem we see with fiat..

But as far as I know, COIN shares will be correlated with blockchain transactions so there is no way for "new coins" to be created out of thin air.

We all hope SEC approved ETF. Bitcoin price is really high right now. If ETF approved. Theres a possibilty that the price will be doubled. But i dont think it will be approve. The chances are really thin. Approved or not approved. The price is still really high tho. We are at $1287 and still kicking. Hope big dumps wont happen if ever ETF won't approved by SEC.

The markets betting on approved, I feel like it will be approved although that does not mean it won't have a strong set of restrictions on it's usage.
What type of restrictions I'm uncertain as to what they will be but they are down to the wire on this for a reason.

very unusual, there are many altcoin will fall to 1 satoshi, Although the intake of money will be done gradually. and if anybody sees this as an advantage, will not be wrong if you sell now, and hope the price of BTC will fall, and get the price before the pump.

Despite what people say about "Slim chances", I think the ETF will go through. You can't put a rate on a educated decision. It's also not just the Winklevoss ETF that is being pushed, there are a couple more.

Bitcoin and the blockchain is being researched and used by major fintech companies already, I doubt the SEC will be daft enough to not approve it.

Maybe you are right nut there's still the chance that it will get dissapproved but I agree with your statement that ETF will go through if they consider that blockchain itself is a great technology. In my opinion though some might try to control bitcoin's price especially finance corporations wanting more money if this gets approved.

The mandate of the SEC is to protect investors. Whether common investors are savvy enough to understand the risks posed by a Bitcoin ETF is the question the SEC should answer. That is why most analysts predict only a slim chance of approval.

I will be happy if the ETF gets approved, bet everyone here will be happy! but it is hard to say whether the SEC will approve it as there are lots of chances for them to reject it and even if approved, they will try to regulate the shit out of it.

Anyways lets wait and see how things will unfold over these coming days. I expect some correction if its not approved or delayed for some reasons, so keep a close watch and try to book some profits if you have entered at 1000 USD levels.

Etf rejected the idea, so we will see the price drop down in this few days, and now we already see the effect of the rejection, the price already go down, but no need to panic bitcoin will still survive, but this few day will be unstable

The decision has been finally made now, but even its been rejected its fine then expect the price drop for the coming few days which is a sign of panic buying, but no worries because we can still survive and can be recover again to 1300$. :)

My dream is come true and my speculation is to be real for buy more bitcoin on the cheap price. This just a simple bubble and it will not affecting a lot for the bitcoin itself. And it think in this time the price is recover again but to prevent the another dump coming in next day.

Dats exactly my position when a lot if people had put their trust in ETF as if the whole bitcoin world depended on it. Whether etf or not, we have been surviving and when the decision has been made, we will still survive. Its just a mere setback that will be witnessed and as a lesson we are closer than we were years back.

Yes, I agree that this decision had no strong effect on bitcoin. And in the near future, the price of bitcoin will recover and start growing again. Do not panic, everything goes as it should

It has a strong short time effect toward bitcoin.  Can't you see how low Bitcoin drops when etf was rejected?  But well it was a short time effect since I seen some recovery now.  This only means being approved as ETF is just a small part of Bitcoin,  and I think it is a good thing that ETF is not approved because it somehow contradict in some point Bitcoin's purpose of decentralization.
