Title: If you want to use, really use coin, you should use Litecoin
Post by: nanonymousx on March 02, 2017, 05:34:49 AM
Two days ago, I sent two transactions.
0.15 Bitcoin, 0.0001 fee, after 48 hours, still not cleared.
2 litecoins, no fee, took my chance, and it was done almost instantly.

I think, bitcoin is not practical to be useful now a days. In contrast, Litecoin can be sued as a currency, and its price is stable, although it keep going down and down.

I think some of coins are much better to perform there function . And one of them is litecoin (small form of bitcoin ) .
But here I think the main issue of confirmation in the litecoin is very loss then in bitcoin due to load of the users of bitcoiners .
But if you are getting better facility in litecoin than in bitcoin then you should continue your work with bitcoin in form of litecoin but be careful that about all altcoins Are depended upon bitcoin.

you should report the "size of transaction in byte not in bitcoin" for all we know you send a 5000 byte transaction with 10000 satoshi fee!
even if your transaction was the smallest 40 satoshi/byte is still very small.

Quote
2 litecoins, no fee, took my chance, and it was done almost instantly.

again the same thing here. the size of transaction in byte is important not the amount you send.

well it depends on what you mean by practical. if you want to buy something with crypto currency online then bitcoin is the choice. very rare places also have litecoin as payment option.
if it is any other purpose it is still bitcoin because of the price. but litecoin can be used too.

and just FYI price of litecoin has been very stable and good. it is still worth $3.78 as i am typing this and it has been around 3.5-3.8 dollar for a long time. so i don't know what you mean by "price going down and down"!

if the price was down and down i think that is not stable and if your aim is how to decrease the fees besides Litecoin you also could transactions using Doge because the fees also very low for every transactions using Doge but i think this is gonna works only if we send to another altcoins users only but the problem is usually people will use bitcoin and very difficult to avoid the fees

This is a known issue nowadays the congested transaction and something needs to be done fast, but to be substitute Litecoin for Bitcoin is wrong, Litecoin team has not even thinking of challenging Bitcoin dominance, though I have my issues with Dash but they are aiming for that Bitcoin position but Litecoin team is not

They can work and co-exist,in the future we will  be needeing at least 20 working and community supported crypto currency and litecoin is very much qualified,I admire the people of litecoin, they deserve to be in the top position and we also must this support this coin, they have been here through the years.

bro 10k satoshi in fee is very minimal these day, you need to pay 36k satoshi, no wonder many transaction are stuck, people don't know how much to pay with bitcoin, they still believe we are stuck at 10k satoshi, what about using an accelerator they work really good and speed up your transaction quickly, and btw litecoin have not this issue because litecoin have a very small amount of tx per day not comparable with the king bitcoin

Transaction time is a big issue in bitcoin. But it can be solved if the block size was increased from 1 MB.Day by day, bitcoin users are becoming more.We cant choose a coin based on this single factor transaction. We should take lots of factors into consideration. Lets hope the best with bitcoin.

yes litecoin, a long time ago, became my reserve crypto for no other reason then it simply worked for me way better then bitcoin, i often wonder whether 99% of the bitcoin enthusiast actually use it, because if you did use it they'd notice tis not user friendly at all and hasn't been for the longest time.

one of the many great things about decentralization is that you can use whatever you want. if it is an altcoin like litecoin or if it is a completely random altcoin. and the rest of the world can choose to use bitcoin!

the thing about litecoin is that it is a copy of bitcoin with faster block generation nothing else! at least if it could activate segwit we could have said that litecoin is different but that has not happened yet.

and besides, litecoin is fast because it is not being used as much as bitcoin and nobody is spam attacking litecoin. most of the altcoins out there would die in half a day if the spam attack on bitcoin shifted there!

From  a usable currency point of view, Litecoin beat Bitcoin.

If you are in a  area under defunct government, Litecoin work much better than Bitcoin. That is all.

Well, I don't very often use bitcoin to buy stuff, and it is a while ago.  But this thread inspired me to have a look at current fees, and if what is written here is right:

https://bitcoinfees.21.co/

then things are getting expensive.  If 50 000 satoshis are the average price to get your transaction through "normally", that is about $0.6 right now, or am I wrong ?  That is not a negligible amount any more as compared to fiat.

Without specific data: transaction ID where we can see how many bytes you sent, this revelation is questionable.
0.0001 fee is unfortunately no longer good enough is most cases, it's sad truth, but we are currently having a war fee.

There is a service which can accelerate your confirmation time: https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/ (https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/)
I know it is workaround and not standard solution, but it gets the job done.

Well I'm planing to gamble with litecoins, first I started to collect litecoins from faucets and I buy litecoins occasionally, when I gather some decent amount I will try to make more with gambling, there is few casinos where we can gamble with litecoins.
Is there any other way to earn litecoins aside from faucets and of course buying them?

Nowadays, especially bitcoin price value is continually getting higher, it is still much better to use bitcoin. Though we still need to buy litecoin because litecoin is one of the established altcoin in cryto. And Ltc price has still stable,

iam smile , if you sending 0.15 bitcoin you only use sending fee 10k satoshi
standard bitcoin sending fee 50k satoshi/Kb and if fast transaction 90 - 140k satoshi/Kb , if you setting sending fee only 10k satsohi very long time confirmation not new case, because you sending fee is very low
if want altcoin in low sending fee good community and fast transaction you can use dogecoin

I agree, I feel that Bitcoin is out of normal people's reach. The fee is 50 cents USD, that is low for international transfer, but too expensive for day to day uses.

Bitcoin is like gold and can be used very well as value storage and for transactions over $1000. (Ones that don't happen often, and can wait a few hours if necessary.)
Litecoin, as digital silver, can be used for transactions between $10 and $1000.
Dogecoin, as digital copper, can be used for anything under $10, and is especially unbeatable for micro payments, since the cost of sending is just 1 doge and the network has a really high capacity compared to Bitcoin.

If such a model is accepted by the marketplace, then the Bitcoin scaling issue can be resolved without having forks that affect blockchain immutability.

Last time i used Interac eTransfer on Localbitcoins to sell BTC it was a flat rate $1.. and instant !
That is just one example..
You realize the support Interac has ? Do you grasp the magnitude of what i just said ?
http://interac.ca/en/interac-e-transfer-consumer.html
They have OTHER services too ;)

Quote
The fee to send an Interac e-Transfer from a personal account is $0.50 for each transfer of up to $100, and $1.00 for each transfer of over $100. The fee to send an Interac e-Transfer from a business account is $1.50

What banks do they support ? 250 of them in Canada ALONE LOL

<removed the long list> ;)

Your argument is correct but comparing the value and quantity of transactions happening in the case of bitcoin to lite coins to me its unfair and for us to compare the two then they have to be on the same level by then we can then conclude which one is better.

At the bolded, why will I want to put money on a sure way I am going to lose, is it because of instant delivery or what?...

I think even if ltc tried to replace bitcoin - no chance to succeed. Okay, the transaction is fast. What is no fee? I thought ltc has a code very alike with bitcoin, so it has to have some money left between the blocks like bitcoin does. Anyway, 84 million is too much. I guess litecoin can only come closer to btc but wouldn't be able to defeat it. We now see that btc has some issues other currencies may have solved. And yet people trust btc too much already. I don't think they will easily replace it with some other alt.

Mate, you haven't checked the new projects. Some of them allow you to send money instantly and without fees! Dogecoins is still godd but there're better solutions for micropayments, for example, RaiBlocks.

you are right about the clog that has happened recently and caused the fees to increase at an alarming rate. but this is the result of a continuous spam attack on bitcoin. and this can not go on forever, it will stop at some point and things will eventually come down to normal state. or if it continues down this path for a long time, bitcoin will no longer be a currency and will be something you buy and hodl to sell and take fiat.

and besides the spam attack is happening on bitcoin can happen on any other altcoin and cause problems, it may not be the same because of how they work but it can at the very least cause a big rise in the size of their blockchain causing nodes to stop.

As always it depends. But your fee is very small even for the smallest transaction size (is about 200 bytes). Of course, nowadays the transaction fees which are about 120 sat/byte for a low priority confirmation and about 220s/b for the fast one are really high and bitcoin network is not the most appropriate way to send/receive small amounts of money. So if someone wants to do some micropayments then litecoin or some other alt is a good choice. On the other side which coin is more secure? bitcoin or litecoin? There is a good topic in the forum here. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1110459.20) At last would be interesting to compare alts and LNs if we had ever see a segwit consensus so as this possibility to be feasible.

Yes,absolutely,I do accept there is issue about transaction time taken for bitcoins.Main reason is over load of transactions and the other reason is the block size has not been increased from 1 MB yet.If it is not solved, just like dash and litecoin users, other coin users would also start saying their coin will kill bitcoin and will get the No.1 place.Wake up Bitcoin dev community.

I think the comparison to BTC is also skewed because of an intention to create services or features using BTC's block chain.
It is not just "an attack" that can bog it down.
Any services that perpetuates doing more or smaller transactions will be overall detrimental.
Makes me think of Mixing services or maybe Vanity addresses (not sure about that one)
Or people who claim you should never use the same address twice etc.

What i am saying is i don't think the users of Bitcoin care about the performance of it.
EXACTLY like the users here do not care in the slightest that they are contributing to making this forum larger & larger with lots of shit posts.

Would LTC have a similar problem if you swapped them around ? I don't know the code well enough to say.
I am guessing though the problem would not be as bad.

Bitcoin has failed as a currency and Litecoin has not people ..think about that !

Litecoin is shit. It's heavily manipulated, you shouldn't touch it because it will soon probably crash sub $2.

Don't care if it functions well. If a cryptocurrency doesn't pump (LTC hasn't for almsot 2 years), it is practically dead.

Shorting it on 100x leverage with 30% of my net worth, LOL!

There are many altcoins that still functioning even it has a chance to become dead because of its unfamousity but I think there is a chance to become alive ang make it to become great because we control them literally. Like bitcoin in the beginning it is infamous so that the worth of it very low but now the price is very high and that altcoins that you call shit will worth it for a years.
