Title: What is the best mining pool for a beginner with an antminer s7
Post by: boniastar on March 02, 2017, 05:39:16 PM
Hello I'm going to start mining with an antminer s7 I already have the antminer and I'm preparing everything to set it up, what in your opinion could be the best mining pool to start, what advice could you give me? What things can I expect and if you know any issues that can surge setting up the antminer s7, thanks in advance.

Depends on what you are after. A smaller pool generates fewer blocks but if lucky you get bigger reward. A bigger pool means a steady and "reliable" income, but the income will ofcourse be lower. Other than that, Set it up, and dont let it get too warm :)

Good luck with your mining! Hope you have very low cost of electricity!

I'll shamelessly promote my own pool.  We are always looking for new miners, and we are offering a 1.5BTC bonus to anyone who finds a block before the end of this weekend.

There are plenty of good options out there for you.  Biggest does NOT mean best.  For example, AntPool does not pay you transaction fees (they keep them), so you lose out on income - even though they claim 0% fees for using the pool.

Well the best pools are those that charge relatively low fees (e.g. Jonny's pool which I understand is about 0.5% with the transaction fees shared), and also either mine blocks often enough for you to have a reasonable income, or will mine them often enough in the future.

Generally if you're mining you don't expect to have a really serious income, which is why it's okay for some pools to not mine blocks for a few months at a time, so moderately small pools can be OK as well and therefore the main factor you should consider is the fees.

You can find the Bitcoin Wiki's list (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Comparison_of_mining_pools) which will help you to find the best pool for your needs.

Ok thanks to you all for your replies, I started mining with kano.is a few days after I posted this thread and so far is really good, jhonnybravo IŽll check out your pool, thanks for answering its good to see pool owners being active here with the users, a plus for chosing a small or medium pool over the bigger ones.
