The utility of the whole system is now far higher with additions like zite search, a private email client, a file manager, and the Zeronet-wide newsfeed that keeps track of your conversations across all zites. The "Zites" looks much better than the early-90s-themed Freenet sites and offer much more functionality like dynamic sites and forums, and so could be a worthy successor for this system. I already have played around a bit with it and it's working really smooth. I would like to see much more adoption for this service.
A small error I see often when the press describes decentralized informational media: It's not an "Internet" alternative, but a "WWW" or "Web" alternative. Zeronet uses the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) like BitTorrent does. |
